That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about a list of currently online friends/faves appearing on YOUR profile page, not theirs. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I'd prefer we avoid that. Like I mentioned before, that'd only turn FAC into a chatroom rather than a community for art.
And I'm seeing enough crappy chatting on profiles already to make me sick. :< _________________ |

You can reply.
And if you want to 'talk', well, you're free to discuss things. Preferrably in forums or over PM.
Still, FAC is not there so you can chat with friends all the time.
What's so hard about just swapping AIM screennames or something and chatting for something that's DESIGNED for it? It's faster and more comfortable, anyway. :/ _________________ |

there's nothing wrong with chat-like features on FAC. it would be more intuitive and attractive to have more variety in the way we are capable of interacting with the community. Some members have been wanting a chatroom for FAC since forever. We even used to have one. And now we may be having paintchat coming.
the only problem a chatroom would cause for me is that it would render Random completely unnecessary ;_; _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

Well, yes, that would be interesting. I wouldn't MIND chat; all I'm saying is that I would really prefer it to stay off the profile pages and pictures on the site itself. If FAC had a separate chatboard, that'll be just dandy. _________________ |

On a related note, I still would like to see a "Journal" type feature so that people don't clutter up their profile fields with idle chatter or blogworthy material. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

coudn't that work like the "member info?" it could be as simple as a text field that displays the text on a members profile in a box titled "Journal" or something more creative and less cliched. only with this we would have to be able to save our journal entries.
also, we could have fill-in fields so profiles can look more organized and people wouldn't have to add more clutter to their "member info." Then again dA uses those for their devious information. but maybe we can be more creative with that too? _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

Either they can piss and moan in their bio space and look retarded, or we can look retarded by giving them a valid space to do it.
Perhaps, instead of appropriating features into halfassed versions that do nothing to enhance quality, an actual useful feature could be put in place. Don't break the trend. Gallery order, useful, fav/popular thumbnails, useful, journals for preteens to complain and further make the profiles look like shit? Stupid.
The whole bio field isn't really necessary, given that the only information generally needed is age/gender/location/whatever easily covered by other fields. "im 15 n i luv inuyasha, [insert 20 other cartoon network shows here], mcr, pocky, drawing, kittens, anal sex, furries, mtv, kewl ppl, my puppy, golden showers, my bff, bobby, cindy, laura, jimmy, and KAWAII STUFF!!!!!111" Good for you. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C.
also, we could have fill-in fields so profiles can look more organized and people wouldn't have to add more clutter to their "member info." Then again dA uses those for their devious information.
dA's "Devious Information" is a bunch of discrete form fields (gender, homepage, e-mail, etc.,) which the site displays in a block -- it's not a catch-all miscellaneous text field complete with formatting.
Maybe just institute a limit on how much text people can enter for their "bio", like . . . 1024 chars. Enough for a blurb or two but no significant whining, and none of those forking Quizilla test results either. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I don't like that Idea, I do understand you don't want Bios being three days long, but some of us actually use it for some purpose or another. _________________ RPG-n.
