So who has any odd game habits, or pet peeves about video games? Share your video game experiences and ways here!
Ehehe, actually I'm just bored and I feel like hearing about the different ways people play video games, which can actually be really different.
For example, I won't beat the final boss until I've tried out every mini-game and side-quest in the game. Time consuming, yes, but it just irks me if I left something out before the final boss XD I don't always beat the mini-game/side-quest but I always try it at least once. |

Pet peeves about video games? That's a hard one....
...or not....
- Lv.50 RPG characters who can down 50+ Potions before showing any noticeable significant repair to their depleted HP. What do they fill those things with anyway, water?
- Monsters who carry cash. Why? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Games that are incredibley NOT straight forward enough. Enough for me, anyway. I can be a little slow on the uptake, but when my brother plays RPG's, he's the bron and I'm the brain. I can't do both at once!
Other than that, I always play with cheats and walkthroughs. Unless I'm looking for a challenge, at the least I'll try to figure stuff out on my own. |

I have this really unorthodox way of playing video games(whether RPG, FPS, Racing, or whatever) which my younger bro defines as "weird".
Usually I go through some of the first levels, then I save, and then(here's the "weird" part)after saving I try to go as far as I can untill I get tired. That way I know what will happen, and if there are any secrets or bonuses on the way, I would already know.
Well, when I'm really attached to a particular game I look for in-depth guides(BUT NOT WALKTHROUGHS!!!), and I would apply them accordingly 'till I master the whole thing. *laughs*My friends would sometimes ask me to help them with their games way back.
I don't do cheats until I'm finished with the game I use cheats on, or unless I have mastered it. Cheats are the coward's way out, seriously. I only use them for laughs and fun.
Hmmmm...what else?...I never take my hands off a game until I'm sure that I'm 100%done with it, secrets and all. And.......that's about it. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. Odd game habits? Only one, really: I have a tendency to get to the final boss but right before I fight it, I put the game down and never look at it again. Not for a long time, anyway.
...
I've built up quite an impressive library of PS2 RPGs just because of that. :s |

Ahaha...Strata and Fayore's are entertaining.
I do the same thing as Fayore on games like Legend of Zelda or any real time games cause usually I'll start the boss fight, get freaked out, turn the game off and foget about it for a while.,.ehe...
Actually, I always wondered about that monster dropping gold thing XD That's why FFVIII made more sense to me. You actually get a paycheck, although I always thought that was hilarious in it's own sense.
Hm...lesse, I almost never, ever buy any video games until at least five months after they come out. The price has usually gone down a bit by then. Like for example, I bought FFX only a year ago, so it was only about $14. And I'm pretty sure I didn't buy KH2 until 2 years ago also. Actually, I practically owned no PS2 games until 3 year ago, despite having it for 6 years. All my games I played were my friends >_<
And I have this whole shelf dedicated to horror games that I never play. I love horror games but I get scared so easily I usually don't even make it past the opening cinematic... ehe ^_^; So as a result I get nightmares AND a shelf full of unfinished games... |

Oh yeah, chalk up another pet peeve of the genres:
- Item-based victories, i.e. you only won because you had a nearly limitless supply of recovery items and so on. Why bother with any decent tactics at all if you can just keep healing from your mistakes? And just where does your team store those 90+ quantities of potions? Shouldn't it weigh a ton? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Unfortunately, a bunch of my games are relatively "rare" - thanks a lot, NIS America. If you ever find any one of their games in a store like EB, I guarantee it'll be around the original price. :l
Two years after its release and Disgaea was still $60 CND. One year after its release, Atelier Iris 2 was still $60. Same for Makai Kingdom, and whatever else they've released. I haven't even seen Phantom Brave in a store, ever.
...lol, horror games. I do the same thing. I love them so much but I really haven't the guts to play them. RE4 and Siren are collecting dust.
Speaking of cliffhangers... I can't really say, but I guess I like them for the most part, if they're well presented. Ah, Xenosaga 2. 83
#1 Pet Peeve: the characters walk too slowly and there's no run option. DX |

Same here. Exploring-dungeons are my OCD.
That's why I don't play with anyone else in Star Ocean 3; mapmaking BY PERCENTAGES in EVERY dungeon and even every field drives any and all people sitting next to me crazy.
Oh but it's fun~ _________________ |

Dhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooooooooos comes to mind.
I don't really have any odd habits that come to mind in terms of actually playing the game. I tend to pause the game and run off and do something for a few hours if that counts. _________________ |

Really? Phantom brave was only $20 when I got it at EB games over in the Brea Mall. It might be because I'm in America though I don't think that should affect things much. Although I have to agree with Disgaea. I got it on ebay after like, 3 months of haggling and bidding. Every, EVERY, single time someone would outbit me at like, the last 30 seconds. Not even a minute. It's always in the seconds. TT_TT...
I almost never explore the whole map in games, the only exception is the .hack games since there are treasures scattered everywhere. Oh yeah, that's another thing. I'm pretty much a treasure maniac. I HAVE to get every single chest before I beat the game.
I also have to see every single ending, which is probably why Star Ocean 1 and 2 drove me insande. 84 endings on Star Ocean 2 and god knows how many on 1 >_< But it was sooo much fun, even though I was ready to break the game out of annoyance XD.
Does anyone else have those moments in games where you just drop the controller and let your jaw drop while your brain is going "holy sh**". XD Ahaha... I do that all the time. My friends all think I'm surprised to easily. |

Yup, treasure-chest mania.
I remember in Tales of Symphonia. On one playthrough, we got all but 2 treasure chests.
One of which I'd accidentally sunk at Triet Ruins.
I HAD 99.6% DAMMIT!!! D:
And yeah, I've seen Phantom Brave around myself. My friend has it, and it's cool.
...Holy shit SilentSoul92, you have Star Ocean 1????? Dear lord. :<
I have an obsession with being extremely obsessive over no 'stale time' in my games. I hate to pause, to stand there doing nothing, to wait for someone doing insomuch as going to the bathroom.
I WILL PLAY ON WITHOUT YOU. D:
No stale time. Stale time bad.
My one friend drives me insane with how she'll just leave her PS2 on overnight... :< _________________ |

I know what you mean. In ToS I'll be playing then my brother has to go do something so I'll just switch him to auto and keep playing. Then half an hour later he comes back and throw a tantrum because he missed a bunch of the storyline :P
Apparently, I'm a very fast gamer compared to my friends. I've almost never taken more than 30 hours on a game, ALMOST never. The only exceptions I can think of are Star Ocean 2 and maybe, MAYBE, ocarina of time, because I kept getting scared of the redeads and spent a good couple hours trying to find a way to avoid them XD I will never fight redeads if I can avoid it, just too scared. >_<
Which makes me wonder why I'm playing Sanity's Requiem right now, for the Gamecube. I swear, thatt game messes with your head in ways that make me think I really am going insane. And when the walls started oozing blood, I screamed and shut off the gamecube XD
Oh and yep, I have Star Ocean 1, can't understand what they're saying half the freaking time but that's what online translations are for. I <3 them. ^_^ And I can't stand sports games. Don't know why, I just don't like them. Same goes for first-person shooter.
But the weird part is, while I don't like first-person shooter games, I really like third-person @_@ My brain's messed up... |

America's Army, the game, is designed for realism in gameplay (it is in fact sponsored by the U.S. Army). But yeah, there are way too many military shooters. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
