-- ITK sends a jar of blood with the room key in it
-- Deb and Doakes find the room covered in blood
-- Dex goes in, starts having flashbacks, and freaks
-- The police tell Rita Paul is pressing charges against her
-- Deb bitches at Dex 'cause he won't talk to her
-- The lawyer goes over Rita's case with her
-- Deb tries to fuck Rudy, but he just wants to talk about Dexter. She gets pissed. He goes to watch tv. lolz
-- Angel tries to pick up girls but can't stop talking about the divorce
-- They establish the footprint path of the ITK in the hotel room and determine that the blood is stored from the other victims
-- Paul takes the kids to the circus
-- Dex breaks into Paul's apartment for enough proof to get rid of him, finds a gun and pot. The idea of a "family slaughter" freaks him out again.
-- Deb and Doakes follow the footprint path of the ITK and discover the numbers 103 are some kind of message
-- Rudy goes to visit Dex with steaks and beer. They talk about repressed memories. Rudy claims he saw his mother hit by a truck and tells Dex he'll have to face his own repressed memories eventually. He forgets his cell phone in Dexter's kitchen.
-- Angel finally picks up a girl but blows it when he sees a girl with a fake hand with fingernails painted like the ITK victim. He questions her and comes up with a profile of a guy with an amputee fetish.
-- Masuka suggests Angel talk to Rudy about possible suspects or leads
-- Rudy comes to pick up his phone at the office while Dex is trying to recreate the blood splatter from the scene with different power tools. He suggests a chain saw. Deb sees them together and gets more pissed.
-- She confronts Dex and complains about barely knowing him 'cause he shuts her out, but is so eager to talk to her new boyfriend
-- Angel goes to visit Rudy in his office. When he says he needs help with a case, Rudy shuts the door and grabs a knife...thing, but puts it down when Angel says he doesn't have any suspects. Rudy offers to talk to his associates and come up with a list of possible suspects. He throws Angel's card into a drawer full of nail polish.
-- They go over Rita's deposition, and because she cancelled Paul's visitation date to go with Dexter to see about his dead father, Paul has a stronger case and might win. The lawyer suggests she not do anything else that could give him grounds to take the kids away, so she lets him continue to have supervised visits.
-- Paul brings the kids home with 20 minutes to spare, so the supervisor takes them to get ready for bed so Paul can read them a story. Dex is doing dishes, and Paul make a big threatening speech about neither Dexter nor Rita getting in his way.
-- Dexter loses it and hits him upside the head with a frying pan. Panicked, he carries Paul's body outside and puts him in the trunk of Paul's car, then rolls it out of sight.
-- He tells Rita that he thought he heard Paul leave when he went to take the trash out.
-- At Paul's house, Dexter stages an elaborate scene with drugs and a gun so Paul would violate the 3 strikes law and be put away for life.
-- Laguerta reopens the ITK case and pisses off the captain by saying everything related to the wrong guy being arrested should be directed to him.
-- Angel is taking bags out of his car in the underground parking structure of his apartment building. As he goes to close the door, he's jumped from behind by a masked figure in all black. He hits the guy, but is stabbed. Two black guys see them and chase the guy away, with Angel bleeding on the ground.
-- Doakes asks if everything's ok with Deb and Rudy. Deb says she isn't calling until he apologizes. Doakes invites her out drinking with the guys, but Rudy steps off the elevator with a big bundle of white roses that Dex suggested. They get all sappy and Rudy says he loves her.
-- Dex goes back to the hotel room, determined to find out what the ITK's message to him was. He faces the blood room and has a major flashback/panic attack. The episode ends with him lying on the floor, remembering his mother's face in the blood room saying "Close your eyes, Dexter. Mommy loves you, Dexter".

Yep, it got picked up a few weeks ago 'cause it's their top rated series. Surprise surprise. Everything else they've ever made is crap, and Dexter is mostly HBO people. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Hm, dexter dexter dexter....
I DO like how they've adapted the clues to fit the fact they all know Rudy/Brian. The body parts under the tree weren't quite as flashy as the three body shrine in the book, but it was all worth it to hear Rudy sing "deck the halls with parts of bodies..." Priceless.
I DON'T like how Dex is finding out about his past. Or rather, don't like it as much as the book version. I much prefer the shock of Brian telling him than looking it up in pieces and hearing from Camilla. It works, but the Dex/Brian dynamic is so much more fun. But at least they kept the story the same. Thus...I hope...will keep the final scenes the same.
Christian Camargo has sold me on his ability to be Rudy/Brian. These last couple episodes, with true Brian scenes and not just his Rudy facade, have been delightful. I can't believe there's only one episode left. Love the fact he's been such a huge part of the story. And wonderfully evil.
And I'm reeeeally ready for you-know-who to die. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'll never teeeeell...
I'm actually not sure what they'll do with Rudy/Brian (god I can't wait for them to reveal that his name is Brian, the Rudy thing messes with me). Given how much they've done with him, they very well may twist it up. 'Cause in the first book, he pretty much pops up in the last fifteen or so pages then pops out again. Thus how much I like him being an important character in the show, 'cause he's a most awesome one.
And yes, Dexter will be ok. There's a second novel and a third one due out next summer. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

......Wow. I hate to spoil the entire thing for those who are gonna watch it later, but...too bad for them.
If you don't wanna know most of the details of the finale, DON'T READ
'K.
I do like how drawn out they made it, considering it would've been a very short scene had they stayed completely loyal to the plot. Some of the parts were really really good. Brian tying Dex up to have a beer and explain himself, lovely. The interaction between Brian and Deb as she still wasn't quite grasping the situation. All delightful. Pretty much the big upside to the whole episode was how good Brian was. They nailed the script, and Christian was absolutely spot on perfect.
Buuut, then they had to go fuck it all up. I think my biggest pet peeve, short of the very end which I'll get to, is how they changed Dex and his state of mind. Yeah, the trail of clues was interesting and made for a pretty story, but Brian basically had to hit him over the head with everything. Book!Dex is much more...intuitive. And the clues more subtle, based on his memories. Ok, so people probably wouldn't buy him stumbling through the shipping yard in the dark and coming to the right container all on his own 'cause he just "knew". But all that research, all those blatant clues...and worst of all, the confrontation about killing Deb.
It's like they wanted to make him such a good guy, so the audience couldn't possibly think good old Dexter would kill his sister. He didn't consider it, not for a second. Lame.
Aaaaand, the killing. Granted that was very clever of Dex and a nice little scene they cooked up, BUT...really the only thing all season that was potentially out of character. End with literally Dexter the hero and big bad Brian out of the picture. Argh. I LIKE that juxtaposition of him killing people, but only bad people, and being torn between Brian and Deb.
At least he killed him in style, that's nice. Hard scene to like, though.
Oh, and all that Doakes business really bothered me. Along with the fact Laguerta didn't die like she was supposed to. The only thing I can appreciate about all that Doakes is that it will lead in nicely to next season. But he was way too prominent in the finale. And god dammit, Laguerta was supposed to get it.
