A brilliant letdown.
The art is about as generic anime as you can get, so fine if you're, what, 12? Sooner or later though, you start to get kind of sick of the giant eyes and whatnot.
And as for the storyline? It had something, right there at the beginning. I was willing to give it a shot, simply because I liked the fantasy half, not the romance. If you like your shojo, knock yourself out.
Otherwise? Wow, talk about boring. I was forcing myself to read through books nine and ten, and flipping past whole pages, waiting for something to happen. Not only does the relation flip-flop out of the blue from Risa to Riku (with lol no explanation at all); their relationship goes absolutely nowhere! So many times, Daisuke comes close to spitting out the truth, then is miraculously saved/worms his way out. Riku is really, really dull. Risa needs a reality check.
The only thing going for the manga was a couple of nice fantasy-ish bits, and half-decent, though quite stereotypical characters. I stuck through to book 8-whatever, just to see Dark stab Krad. After that, all interest faded.
Hey, it's an okay manga. The art is generic, but, well, at least it's not misshapen lumps and distorted figures (from the neck down, that is), and jeez, if you love romance, go ahead and buy them all. Personally though, it's really a rather childish book without too much deep thought, and it was good for a light read, but not much more.
Just my personal opinion. _________________ |

I had started to buy them when i was younger, that is not all that i'm interested in though, i agree that it may be for a younger audience and what not. basically why i liked it was because the art type was pritty close to what mine looks like and i liked Satioshi's attitude its kind of like Kyo's in Fruits Basket. thank you for your opinion. other manga\anime that i like is Trinity Blood and Sayuki Reload (excuse the bad spelling!)they are for a more mature and older audience and they are far from the big eyes and the chibi characters! |

...He didn't bring back anything. The other one was locked because it was a double post.
In any case, D.N.Angel is pretty mediocre, in my opinion, for a Shojo. I usually don't like Shojo where males are the main character, anyway. Most characters in it piss me off to a degree. Hate how it starts turning into a harem. Artwork could be better. Ya. _________________ Smoking cigarettes can reveil hidden laser traps. This message brought to you by Marlboro.

What? I've read up to volume 11 and I don't particularly remember Krad molesting Satoshi at any point.
That would have been fun, but more likely than not up the rating.
I have a soft spot for DNAngle, mostly because of the whole manga thing with my parents.
In 8th grade, I made a friend who LOVED manga, and I got into anime and stuff because of her. My parents wouldn't let me read manga because of most of it being rated T and the fact that they hate anything Japanese (My brother is even slightly racist towards asians now, which makes me want to smack him upside the head). FINALLY, my mom said I wasn't allowed to buy any because she wasn't going to buy any for me and any money I got was basically hers to begin with since it was my allowance. But she let said my friend could LEND me some, but that she had to read it first and approve it.
Read the first 5 volumes and my mother told me I couldn't read it any more.
Which is CRAZY. That's like letting me read half of Harry Potter and going 'Whoops, sorry!". So my friend continued letting my borrow it...but only when my mom wasn't around.
That being said, now I can buy Fruits Basket.
But still, DNAngle will always be special to me, being the only manga I was allowed to read from the ages of 13-15.
The anime however is the worst transfer from manga to anime I've ever seen.
I mean, WHAT THE HECK WAS WITH THAT UNICORN PLOT?!

The translation into anime was awful to say the least. The only thing I like about that anime is the opening song. The unicorn never appeared in the manga and in volume two, there's no sign of the mountain hike expedition. Also in volume one, there is no sign of the swimming pool scene, either... Oh well. _________________ The Force will be with you... always. |

It truely was a horrible translation.
My friend let me borrow his anime and, not only did I get a lecture on how anime was turning me into an atheist by mother because apparently watching anime that is rated 13 and up when you're 15 is bad, it was horrible.
Even before I got in trouble (It was rated that for what? One bad word and a single gay reference?), I had no desire to watch the rest of it. I also HATED Daisuke's voice actor. I mean, it was BALATANTLY obvious it was a girl voicing him. _________________ The Forum Moderators Scare Me... |

In the Japanese it was a male voice actor who did the voice over. I don't know the English voice actor's name, 'cause as a rule, I don't listen to anime in English no more. _________________ The Force will be with you... always. |
