FMA Questions...

Hey. I have watched my friend's DVDs of Full Metal Alchemist shows,
but she only had a few of them. Starting on 1, 2, then six. And
I'm confused about some of the plot, since I hadn't seen the shows
in between. Okay, here are some questions:
How did Hughes die?
Why was Winry crying everytime someone mentioned Roy & Hughes? (After
Hughes' death)

And one more... except this is Naruto:
Is Gaara a dude or a chick? I used to think she was chick,
then my friend (who obviously thinks I'm retarted) said it was a
dude, and then I just saw something that had Gaara in it, and it
put him/her in a position where it made him/her look like a chick.
I know, I haven't watched the show to much...

I must not have seen those ones then, i don't remember a Hughes, or a Roy, might've been because i havent seen it in a while, ah, if i find an answer i'll tell you.

Hughes was killed by Envy because he knew too much. Winry cries because she's a whiner.

I saw in a quick preview that Maes Hughes slapped Roy Mustang. And Roy.. had a gun in his hands... I'm actually desperate to know.. why???

And what are the statuses of these men (like: kernal, colonel, major... got
confused over time x.x)

It was a flashback scene where Roy was about to put the gun to his own head and Hughes slapped him to knock some sense into him.

It might have been that flashback of Roy Mustang when he was attempting suicide. I'm pretty sure it was. Confused

Envy killed hughes because hughes found out some secrets that the homunculi didnt want anyone to know about and winry cries about hughes because she is sad that he died and she cries with roy because roy killed winrys parents

Q: How did Hughes die?
A: Hughes died because he was investigating on the the Ishball Rebellion and found out to much. He was immediately Attacked by Lust and was stabbed in the shoulder but he was saved by Ross. Hughes went outside to call Roy from a pay phone but he wasn't there. then Hughes confronted Ross saying that the real Ross has a birthmark on her face than hacks her down. Then Hughes said that he had a wife and kid waiting for him. But Hughes dropped the picture and Envy, which is Ross (and still alive) had seen the picture then changed into his wife. Hughes froze on the sight of his of his wife and couldn't fight. Envy then shot Hughes, fatally wounding him and died in mid fall.

Q: Why was Winry crying every time someone mentioned Roy & Hughes?
A: Many reasons,
1st: Hughes had died.
2nd: Roy was the one who killed Winry's parents (at least in the anime)
3rd: Because Roy & Hughes were friends

Q:Is Gaara a dude or a chick?
A: He's a Guy

Well, everyone has seem to have answered the FMA questions pretty well, but one important thing is missing.

Winry cried every time someone mentions Hughes because, like previously stated, Hughes had been murdered and she saw him as a friend.
I'm not so sure if she cries over Roy because he killed her parents, because in the later episodes, she mentions that even though she knows who did it, she respects him. She does, however, believe for some time that Roy did not care about Hughes at all because all he talked about was his promotion, even after Hughes' death. She thinks that he was being an incredibly selfish person. She eventually figures out that Roy had promised Hughes that he would make it to Fuhrer, and that is why all he cares about is his promotion.
She eventually shuts up and stops being a little whiney brat.

Isn't Hughes now a Brigadeer General. Wasn't he promoted when he died?

i'm not so sure myself its been quite a while since I've seen that episode.

'cause I thought Hughes "was" promoted to Brigader General.
right? or am i wrong?
