Shocked This might end up being moved, but oh well.

What exactly is a "manga-brat"? How do you define it? I've heard people use it here on FAC when discussing younger manga/anime fans (more usual of the female gender) who dream of becoming famous manga authors.

Clarify this for me.

Never heard the term before. That said, I find it absolutely hilarious when little girls with absolutely no artistic talent or ability to put together a decent storyline dream of becoming a famous and renown manga artist with their horrible, boring, and cliche story ideas that are basically just concepts pasted together from their favorite Adult Swim anime.

Manga-Brats are people who think Fruits Basket had/has excellent art.

I find this hilarious, taking a look at orangemusicnote101614's avatar. Laughing

Otherwise though, no, I haven't actually heard the term before. What's the difference between that and rabid fangirl?? :<

Or at all, really.

Manga brats are everybody really believes they'll become a manga artist, in Japan, someday. Their reading list consists of 5 of the most cliched shonen jump titles and 10 of the most cheesiest shojo mangas. They masterbate at views of Sasuke, Kyo, and whatever the bishy is in the current manga they are reading.

Optionally, they give Japanese sounding name to their pets.

Does it count if I wanted to name my cat "Necco" because she was the color of chocolate Necco wafers and I thought it would be a funny-yet-retarded pun? I was 13. Sad My parents were against it because they thought Necco wafers were gross. 8D

I think that Fruits Basket has excellent art. Yup. But... I don't *cough* masturbate at the sight of Kyo Sohma. I mean, I think he's a cool character and is totally handsome, but I wouldn't go that overboard with him. Oh... and kawaii... I do use the Japanese word for pretty (kirei) sometimes and have replaced the English umm, or err with the Japanese equivelent (etoo)... but I don't consider myself like what was being typed about these manga brat. Besides that, I'm in me twenties, so yeah...

It's more entertaining when you use onomatopoeias. KIRAKIRAKIRAKIRA *A*

Also, I hope you're not using Japanese in inherently English sentences. :<

I, have once been a manga-brat. Shocking, I know. But I grew out of it fairly quickly. I hate people who use "That is so kawaii". Just because the art is Japanese influences, and 'kawaii' means 'cute' in English, doesn't mean that you use it obsessivly. Stupid stupid people. I've even seen ADULT anime fans use it D;. It makes my eyes cringe. How about you learn the sentance in Japanese, then you wouldn't look as stupid.

I used to be a manga-brat. Very Happy

I used to only like DB, Naruto, One Piece etc. Thankfully i've grown and I think now I can be fairly content reading just about any manga about anything. I've opened up to yaoi, Shojos and things I just normally wouldn't like such as Elfen Lied.

I think if you stick with it instead of stopping just because your favorite character got killed off, you mature about it to the point where just about anything can draw you in and hold you and you no longer feel the need to prove how hardcore of a fan you are.

Lawlz. That was a pwn-some sentance |D. I've seen the growing amount of anime fans due to cliche animes with discustingly done dubs on cartoonnetwork, toonami, ect. Most of them also think that they are anime EXPERTS because they've seen Naruto, One Peice, DBZ, or Fruits Baskets. Usually talk like idiots aswell "OMFG Thts mutha fukin kawai (spelt with one 'i' lmao), i luv hm 2 bits!"

End of rant |D.

Oh wow I didn't even know a term like that existed.
Well I hate to admit it but I was probably a "manga brat" in gradeschool Razz
But now that I am about become a freshman in college, I look back and laugh at my simple little 4th grade thoughts. It takes a lot of work and sometimes luck in this world to acheive something great; being a manga-ka is probably one of those things. But eh, some of us can dream, right? Razz

I might have been a minor manga brat during my 6th grade year. I got pulled into Naruto because it generally had better art than most of the manga/anime I had seen, I watched it to learn how to draw and for a short while became a fan. Then as I got better at drawing and moved into middleschool I realized that I had been watching a show about flying ninjas who breathed fire. At least I never used the word kawaii to describe anything during those few months.

And tarlrawksu, I don't believe that anyone on this website agrees with your inane Gorean idealogy.

I might be a bit of one...I do sometimes use japanese sufixes ( dear Lord, I can't spell... ) if I'm writting fanfiction, which isn't often, because I usually watch animes with subs, so I'm used to the characters calling each other, say, "Hikari-chan" instead of "Hikari" but I don't say "that's so kawaii, <username>-chan!!!1!!" when I chat with people.

I've seen some profiles who have the occupation "future manga-ka" or something...and it annoys me. They're usually the ones with the Mary Sues, too...
