I really don't approve of live action films at all. I am familiar with the Sailormoon series, and I don't know how many of you have seen the live action G.I Joe movie- but it seriously made me want to throw up, piss myself, and die laughing all at the same time. I wouldn't go as far as to say they ruin anime series, but they certainly discredit them, as well as make us fucking sick. |

I guess the plausability of a live action "anime" it is also dependent on which anime they are using. I agree that animes that use exaggerated facial expressions and actions (like FMA) would make absolutley stupid live action films. However, if they tried to make a live action movie from one of those animes that tries to look as realistic as possible, it might just work out. I mean, The Matrix was almost like a live action anime...

I agree that anime should stay being anime. Most people can't really pull off looking like an anime character, or even acting like them. And I believe that live actions movies almost always turn out badly. _________________ What I thought was a dream...A mirage,

There is a silver lining for all of those stating that they don't want to see hollywood tear apart certain animes. Most of the movies that are planned for 'live action' are just internet rumors, and are not actually in production.
When you hear that some celebrity is playing so-and-so, that's most likely the biggest sign it's a rumor. Movies ALWAYS announce the production team first. If there is no director or producer, it's not in production, and the bigger the celebrity name, the more unlikely. They are too costly to contract for independent movie studios, which are usually the ones picking up anime titles.
IMDB is a pretty good place to check to see if your favorite show is just a victim of the rumor mill. If it's not listed there, it's not real.
And if it is listed, but no real progress in the last year, chances are it will get dropped. Most of them do. Anime movies are hard to market to the general public, and what Hollywood generally does is take plot from an anime and just repackage it. Example- Stealth was a Macross rip. The producer of the Matrix was shown Ghost in the Shell... Hollywood prefers to make more money by removing the 'anime' context. It just sells better to mass idiots.
I personally don't want these anime to be made into films. I'm an avid Lupin fan, and there is a 2007 production scedual, and a 2009 due date according to IMDB ,and that's tragic. Hopefully, it will go the way of so many other live action anime movies...abandoned in a trash bin. Battle Angel Alita is also a confirmed in production work. NPR confirms it, and it think it stands a good chance of making it all the way to the big screen... |

I dont get why everyone is aginst a live action anime
If hollywood can make movies out marvel comics
whats the difference when you make a movie out of an anime
all you need to do is make it look like it could actually exist in reality and let the actors have personalities that resemble,NOT COPY, the characters
you could also change the wardrobe to look more realistic.
like for example if there was a Ruoni Kenshin movie you wouldent make kenshin run as fast as the flash but instead try to have him sword fight in a manner that resembles hiten mitsuryu, dont have him jump to unbelievable
hights but make it look like he is athletic and trust me if we can have superman films we can have anime films
I cant see why it would be a bad idea other than the fact that there could be a bad cast and director, |
