Well, in Future Trunks' timeline, Goku died from a fatal heart virus, then every body else lost the fight against the Androids.
In the normal timeline, Goku got sick while fighting No.19 and 20. Vegeta made scrapmetal out of 19. 20(aka Dr. Gero) fought Piccolo, then he escaped. The next fight w/ the Androids was between Piccolo and 17. Piccolo was doing well untill Cell butted in. Piccolo got his but kicked, then was rescued by Goku. Vegeta and Trunks fought Cell and lost. During the Cell games, Trunks was killed, and Goku sacrificed himself.

Didnt piccolo combind himself with some one to make a Super namic or some thing?

Fused with Nail for a power boost, then joined with Kami for an ever greater power up.
