I'm fed up of people wanting to change the colour skin. Like today someone said to me "get some fake tan of your legs" Yuhh... So i'll go the shop and buy a bottle of ORANGE to put on my legs, Because that just looks SO much better! I love my skin, It's extreamly pale, but so what? The people who go out and lie on those sun-beds, increasing thier chances of skin cancer second by second look like freaks! Natrual tans like where you sit in the garden looks nice, it's just when they're trying to completely change their skin colour. White people look beautiful white and black people look beautiful black, If not, they we wouldn't be born like that now would we? My friend is from Japan, and she tells me that everyone there wants to be pale-skinned. Lol, Why? Asians are beautyful! Why does everyone want to change themselves? You should be proud of your culture!

It's like make up. Really extensive make up. Do you complain about that, too?

And it's more race/ethnicity, not culture.

Just because your skin is pale doesn't necesarily mean its healthy. Having pale skin makes you much more sensitive to the sun and thus you will wrinkle much faster than those with a darker pigment of skin. That's why you see Caucaisan women who are in their 40s that look maybe 50 or 60 if they don't care for their skin well enough and why you see an African American in their 50s who look maybe 45 or their age.

tanning yourself in a protected environment ie. the uv beds is much more safer than giving yourself irregular uv radiation from the sun while having pale skin.

btw, seeing as you live in Israel, enjoy your constant sunburns.

Everyone needs a little bit of sun. This staying of of the snlight and slathering on sunscreen like vampires is ridiculous. I'm not saying you should bake in the sun for four hours, but it's good to get out there and soak up a little Vitamin D.

Setting aside race, color is an indicator of status. In the past, pale skin meant you were among the ruling class (since you didn't go out to the fields to work and get a tan ). Pale skin, therefore is a desirable trait, even today, especially among older cultures (those that can trace their culture from feudalistic eras, such as china and japan, or even euroupe -- just take a look at the their paintings). Another example is the philippines, the ruling class for over 300 years were the spanish, chinese, japanese, and americans, who had much lighter skin than the native population. The amount of skin lightener on TV is staggering.

Its only within the past couple of decades that the sun-bronzed look was in vogue. This is because the sun-bronzed look is usually attributed to having money to splurge on beaches and resorts.

I think it's safe to say, given the right Fahrenheit, we all burn. I'm against all forms of tanning, including the fake tan. Just love the skin you're in.....I think that's some slogan, er something Confused

I'm Irish-white and I do burn. Over spring break my arms blistered worse than bubble wrap, but I'm still as white as an egg shell. I like my complection, but I hate that I burn so badly.

Than wear something to cover most of your skin.
