Simply because I can, I'm going to put my own ratings of the ones I've played.
4: 8/10. A little too linear for me, particularly as it didn't allow you to choose which characters you wanted on your team, but it definitely was a fantastic game, especially for when it was made.
5: 7/10. The dialogue was amusing, and the battle system was very good. However, the characters were very one-dimensional, the storyline wasn't great, and (spoiler) replacing Galuf with Krile was a really stupid idea.
6: 10/10. Yes, I'm biased, but FF6 had fantastic characters, an engaging story, an amazing villain, and a terrific battle system (IMO). It also dealt with a lot of intricacies in the characters' psychology, like Terra being torn between her wild Esper instincts and her desire to be normal and Locke being tormented by the inexorable specter of Rachel and her death, which gave the characters and the story a whole new level that FF4 tried to get to but didn't quite manage. Plus, it had the opera scene, which still makes me cry every time I watch it. I'm a sap. I know.
7: 9/10. It loses a point to me because (as I said previously) it kind of ignores all of its characters except Cloud, Aeris, and eventually Tifa, and because Tifa is a weak female character. However, in plot and gameplay, I fully admit that FF7 was one great game.
8: 4/10. The battle system was interesting, but I hated Drawing magic from enemies, and the main characters both ticked the hell out of me. I also find the whole "being able to have Squall doing 9999 damage with ultimate sword in Disc 1" thing ridiculous. If you can reach the ultimate level of power in Disc 1, why should you bother playing through the other three? The storyline was complicated, but not GOOD, which distinguishes it from FF7 and FFT, and (spoiler) turning Edea good was another mistake. She was a much better villain than Ultimecia, and although having the orphaned heroes fight against their maternal figure would have been cliched, it would have been much more interesting.
9: 7/10. I liked Quina! Quina was one of the better characters, actually, IMO. I have definitely never seen a character like Quina before ^O^ Vivi was the other mainstay from this game. I appreciated the return to the "old FF traditions," but what this game lacks is strong main characters to carry the plot it tries to weave. Zidane is eh, Kuja is cool but hardly intimidating, and Garnet just sucks royally --.--
10: 6/10. The characters and story actually could have been tolerable if the battle system had been more fun. However, the rock-paper-scissors effect of every battle (Flying enemy! Switch in Wakka! Oh, mechanical enemy! Switch in Rikku!) was just major-boring, and with boring battles, Lulu, Kimahri, and Wakka were just not enough to save it.
10-2: 3/10. The Dressphere system was cool. It was. I liked it. And the battle system was kind of fun. Everything else sucked.
T: 10/10. I've already gone over why, though ~.^
See, I don't like being able to become super-powered in the first part of the game. What's the point? It just cheapens the whole rest of the game to me. Furthermore, being able to defeat the "most difficult boss in the game" with the amount of ease that FF8/ 9 offer is just ridiculous. They're difficult for a REASON. You're supposed to struggle with them. That's why they get made optional--so only the people who really put the time into preparing for them need to. Having easy super-bosses just kills the whole point. _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

That it was, at least once you got people's accuracy up you didn't have to do that, until then...yeah _________________ |
