A Guilty Gear inquiry

So, being a sucker for fighting games with pretty men in them, I have decided it is high time I owned a Guilty Gear game (or at the very least, tried to rent one >.> ) However, since I've never played any of them, I don't know which one I ought to look for.

I would prefer either the game with the most characters or the best gameplay. Graphics aren't so terribly important to me, what with all the fanart available, but gameplay is always crucial...And, for that matter, if there's any kind of story mode, which games have story modes that, well, actually have stories?

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Hm... I personally have Guilty Gear X2, but that cost me a bundle even bought on amazon, used. :/
But it was-- still is-- a brilliant game. Really amazing.
It has all new characters but for A.B.A. (Maybe it's just GG in general, but the fighting game is still super-hard. XD; )
It does have story mode. I'm currently suffering through it. :/

Guilty Gear Izuka is out, and a lot cheaper, but I've heard it's not as good... Dunno whether or not it's true, though.
Izuka has A.B.A. (what's it with me and A.B.A.? Dunno... I just haven't gotten to play as her yet, so~)
I don't know any more. Sorreh.

Personally, I'm rather excited about Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core. It's coming out for Wii, I think. And it shouldn't be TOO expensive. Smile!

Heard it's going to be really good, too. And it includes A.B.A., along with new artwork. (I personally prefer Daisuke Ishiwatari, but I'm not gonna complain~ it's not bad art, either~)

Sooo~ I'm not good on suggestions. :/ Just telling you what I know.

Guily Gear X2# Reload. It's for the XBox. Don't know if it's for the PS2, but it's got a bit of story to it.

Reload is pretty much GGX2, but with a revamped Robo-Ky.
