Are there any meat-hating fascists in this forum?

If you're a vegetarian enlighten me with the reasons for being such... Razz

And, no meat isn't unhealthy and you don't get fat from it...

I used to be.
1. Global warming
2. Bad conditions for animals
I'm going to wait till I'm done growing so fast and become a veggie again.

Hm, I don't usually prefer it unless it's stuffed down my throat, but I wouldn't call myself a pure-blood vegetarian. Maybe it's because I don't eat a lot of veggies. Smile

I have lots and lots of vegetarian/vegan meals, but I'm not vegetarian.

Mostly because I have no sympathy for animals, whatsoever. I'm probably never gonna own a pet etc. etc.

I also work in the meat shop too, so I can get some cheap steaks and whatnot.

But I try to, and I do it a lot of veggies and whole grains + soy products because I know it's healthier.

I thought it was bad to take meat out of your diet.

It's never good to take any food group out of your diet. Most hardcore vegetarians will get sick if they eat meat.

It's healthy to eat mainly vegetables and fruit, grain, etc. and a small serving of meat every day, but not completely eliminating meat. If it's a health thing, there's always lean meats. And fish is excellent food, it contains fatty acids that your body needs, plus helps your brain function (and salmon apparently can help you get rid of cellulite).

I'm a semi-pescetarian (hope I spelled that right). I don't eat beef, pork, duck, rabbit, and other land meat other than turkey and chicken. I do eat fish and seafood. Tofu=love. My mom knows so many ways to cook tofu, it's like heaven.

The reason I gave up beef and pork was because I read "Fast Food Nation", the part where it described a slaughterhouse. Not pleasant, let me say.

It's also a healthier way to eat.

I barely eat any of either thing, but I eat enough of both to stay healthy. Give me a celery stick any day though. (As long as it's got peanut butter. >_>)

Haha. I love how a bunch of people respond to the healthy thing with "NO"

Hey, I get my protein elsewhere: soybeans, tofu, beans, and nuts. And fish, chicken, and turkey! I am actually very athletic with the kind of food I eat. I run, bike, and dance.

Meat isn't unhealthy, you just weren't eating healthy until you became a vegetarian.
Meat is very healthy.

There was this funny quote that was, well, quoted in Time magazine:

"Red meat isn't bad for you. Now, blue-green meat is..." or something like that. I laughed. Very Happy

Chickens have it worse~

I just hate when PETA and whoever blames farms for being cruel and junk. Especially when they say something like that about a dairy farm, of all things. My dad grew up on one, I grew up visiting one every week for my whole childhood, and there's nothing wrong with the way a local farm raises and cares for their dairy cows ;(
