Sony Cuts Price on PS3

Can't play PS2 games? Who's brilliant idea was [i]that[/i]? I still don't see a reason to buy one in the next year or so. Hopefully the price will drop again by then, haha.

That was Sony's brilliant idea, their resoning being that the majority of their customers already had a PS2. Plus it costs money. Money they'd rather not spend to ensure their system sells. Which doesn't really matter, as companies make money on games, not systems, so they're kinda fucked either way right now.

PS3? Not worth getting unless you can get your hands on a 60 gig model. The 80 gig only has limited backwards compatibility and the 40? None at all. Of course, that doesn't even matter if you don't have an HD TV, because PS3 games look like shi-ITE without one. It’s sad, really. The best fucking hardware I've seen in years, and they can't make any decent software for it, at least not exclusive titles. And hell, if you can get it on multiple platforms, 360 is your better option. Just take Madden 08. Runs like total crap on the PS3, b/c EA refused to take the extra time and money to make sure it didn't. Plus an online service that's still looking iffy and a controller that now has the rumble feature everyone one still clamoring for but not bundled with the system as it should be. Six axis sucks and needs some major overhauling before I even attempt a game that utilizes it again without the option of selecting some sort of alternate form of control.

Wait a year, perhaps more. Let Sony pull their heads out of whatever dark, decrepit hole they have them currently shoved and hope they can get their act together in time to deliver the type of product we should expect from a gaming giant.

I gotta hand it to 'em, though. That commercial featuring Saliva? That add rocked my dick. If only it wasn't one giant awesome lie.

[b]Sony[/b] has already turned to PS3 development, it's largely the third parties that are still cranking out PS2 games. And PS2 games rake in a lot more money than PS3 games because the PS2 market is that much wider.

Sony need to spend big on good exclusive games. That's basically all they need, once they have games that everyone is mad to play they'll rake in big on every front.

Their game lineup so far has been poor however, the game I was looking most forward to, PES 2008, has serious isses with lagging. And that's not just online, during matches you notice slow down which is fucking unacceptable. It gets in the way if me beautifully annihilating other teams.

It seems like thats there main weakness as you'll notice that Microsoft has been on a huge Aquisition spree and as a result, Sony have lost alot of exclusives, most noticeably(and possibly one of the huge blows to the line up) Ace Combat 6. One thing that I'm sort of wondering and a little worried about is if Namco have decided to go to microsoft with that game, will Tekken , another extremely popular exclusive, end up going the same direction? Thats been one of the three exclusives of sony I've keep an eye on to determine which system to get and one of them is gone.

Bandai Namco isn't going to go Microsoft.

They announced a game a while ago that was supposedly "XBox 360 exclusive", but a little while after it was released, they announced that they were porting it to the PS3.

I think it would be safe to assume that while many Japanese developers are experimentally dipping into the 360, a good number of them will either wait, or continue to [also] support the PS3 until it's obvious that it's failing, despite its positive aspects (ah, dreamcast).
