We're all lesser artists, so we feel your pain. I thought this was a good idea also cuz I didn't think anyone had done a topic like this before.. have they?

Yeah, I like your stuff too (Ghost). You've got like... a *style* which is hard to come by. There's only so many ways to do anime, y'know? But you've got your own thing going which is great. Originality is a big plus in my eyes (and something I lack, to boot. ^^;;;)

My stuff if anyone's interested, though a lot of it is really old (i'm member 209 or something. What is THAT? )

Make sure you guys don't go posting your artwork on here. Just leave links. I haven't read through this whole thread, it's a little big and i'm busy handling some complaints and question right now so i'll just leave this. Although from what i did see. If you think someone is really that good of an artist and deserves to be recongnized. You could always try nominating them for a chance to be one of the "Artists of the Month" contest we have going. We're coming up to our next drawing in the next few days and new nominees are always welcomed ^_^ Here's a link to the thread. It's in the same section of the forums as this thread is but just in case.

But please remember that just because you nominate someone, doesn't mean they'll get on the list of possible winners. We try to go through and make sure everything the artist has in their section is legit and isn't suspicious. We really don't want to nominate someone, have them win, then find out they had stolen or traced something WTF?

That wouldn't go so well.

And the staff also haveto decide that they can be placed on it. We're trying to get the best artist we can find that aren't known about to much or don't get to many comments out their first before anything else.

That means people like pienemien and seifer-sama won't be making a win anytime soon ^_^ Not until we got a few other guys in. They're great but hey, everyone knows them and they have hundreds and hundreds of comments. I'm sure you'll agree. So if you think someone should have a chance at when. Just let us know, and please, pleaseee, don't just give us a name. It really helps if you leave a link to the person's section of FAC so we don't have to go searching for it. It saves us a lot of time and that means a lot to us.

Oh, and one more thing. If you nominate yourself, you won't be added period. We really don't like people nominating themselves. We've had people try it before in the past and it's just a little. Well, it just doesn't seem right. If someone nominates you, friend or not, fine, we'll look right into it. I personally really don't see any how could do that really. Even if i knew i was a really talented artist and really good, i'd still personally have trouble nominating myself so please don't.

But otherwise, great idea on this thread. I forget who started it and i don't want to embarasse myself trying to remember so i'll just say good idea *two thumbs up* ^_^

I comment a lot. But that's definitely not the only way to get famous. I've commented about 900 times so far.

[COLOR=red] Well I, myself would like to be well known though I don't know how many people know of my art, seen my art, remember my name etc. But I'm far less talented than most people on this site though I would like at least SOME credit were credit is due.
I have a few pix on my profile -mainly my battle angel pix- that took me a maximum of about 4-5 hours that I'm very proud of, they have about 2 or 3 comments, if ANY.
There are plenty of other artists just like me who want more people to see their art and get constructive critisism/feedback instead of the occasional 'cool', 'i luv it', 'nice', etc, because its just annoyin'!
It's a shame that an online community of artists has become a popularity contest, and no longer your typical social site where you help each other out and not neccesarily be so damn competitive. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this site, I visit it every day religiously and most pix I view, I will comment on whether it be a constructive critisism, appraisal or just a comment on the context of the pic.
At the end of the day we ALL want to be recognised regardless of talent, style, preference of medium, etc. In that case we should all let ourselves be known to everyone else. Give constructive comments, deliver requests, blah blah blah. I believe this is supposed to be a community so lets act like one!
Now that wasn't a long ass bitching session, if it sounded like it, reread it in a nice tone because thats how I was saying it lol.

And remember that the formatting codes don't work unless you close them at the end. Although, on a personal note I'd recommend not formatting your entire post in custom colors/sizes, we can read it fine just as it is ^_^

yes, agreed. But about your art, I like it. I agree with you that constructive crit SHOULD be on here. If you look at my profile on this message board, you'll see that I hate people who can't accept constructive crit. It's just pure annoying! ^_^

I feel underrated to. I mean I don't mean to brag or sound cocky, but alot of these people who are my age cannot draw half as well as me and just because it is something popular it automatically get great comments and +favs. I want that too..*sniffle*

If you didn't believe that you're entitled to at least someone liking your stuff, posting it up seems stupid, huh? I know that's how I feel. I don't go out actively looking for someone who will go, "Awsome!" but I don't feel [i]too[/i] strange when someone does. Now, if a lot of people did, yes, but one or two people? Nah. Because someone will always be at a similar level to you, be it slightly higher or slightly lower, and want someone who they can relate to and see as an 'equal'. They like to talk to them and share ideas. The greats always seem out of reach. The lessers, too low to understand.

Because of that, fame is always going to be limited to your sphere. Your perception of fame will be its extent. If you think fame is your name on everyone's lips, you'll always be looking and searching for it. If you think it's little more than having one person like you, you'll be happy.

I have my circle of friends and reviewers. I feel we all share in eachother's improvements, as if one learns, they can pass that on to the others. And, while I'm not quite sure if things work that way on FAC, I know that other places where I post generally do not elevate just one person, but a group of friends who shared ideas and acted as a unit to improve.

I just think it would be fun to be artist of the month, and have people do fanart of my characters.
I have a bit of that. I have a ton of comments on my profile, and I have a group of about 10 people who like my art and stuff... I'm on 30 people's fav list.
So, I guess I'm pretty well off Rolling eyes

I think I'm going to get more reviews and stuff though because I finally figured out how to upload my photoshop stuff. Smile
