mmkay another favourites list. yay! as opposed as i am to mtv/mtv2 or whatever other "music television" there is out there (with the exception of vh1 and maybe fuse), there are still many decent videos being made, or that have been made. i havent seen too many music videos, but i have several downloaded and i've seen some on vh1 and music dvds. so here are my favourites:

"Don't Come Around Around Here No More" by tom petty and the heart breakers- the 1st time i ever heard/saw tom petty. love the song, love the video. he's looking cool being all "mad-hatter" with his bad self, and lol i love alice- she always has this look of complete surprise and confusion on her face

"Days of the Week" by the stone temple pilots. i like scott weiland's dancing. great song too

"Everything Sucks" by reel big fish. hehehe those guys are so funny

"Once in a Lifetime" by the talking heads. i like david byrne's dancing. great song, too

"California Girls" by David Lee Roth. also funny

"Take on Me" by a-ha. it's just awesome!

"Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades" by brand new. great concept

ok there are also artists who just make amazing videos. for me, some are nirvana, foo fighters, r.e.m., and incubus.

nirvana's are just great- sometimes funny, sometimes provactive, but they always get their point across and it's just great to see kurt. i especially love "sliver" and "in bloom."

the foo fighters' videos are just hilarious- no matter how many times i see it, i still crack up at "learn to fly," "big me" and "breakout." "everlong" is great, too. (why is taylor always the girl in the videos?).

incubus' videos are just cool and creative- "pardon me," "warning," and "take me to your leader" are among my favourites

r.e.m. makes wonderfully expressive videos. i love "losing my religion" especially- the imagery combined with micheal stipe's emotion is just captivating. "everybody hurts" is also very cool

ok i've bored you for long enough. now list your favourites!!!!!

Oh god, you're asking someone who lives for the 80s, the birth of mtv. Back when mtv played music. And all my favorite bands that were born to make videos. Ee, ok here goes. Be prepared for a long long long long list. I'll separate some of 'em by bands...

Guns N' Roses

Patience: No other reason than it's a great song and they all look yummy in it.

Don't Cry/November Rain/Estranged: Three awesome videos based on a short story "Without You". Summary is (in terms of the videos) Axl marries this chick, their relationship ain't so good (hmm, real life here?), she kills herself, so he goes crazy.

Poison

Basically all the videos. They are all rather similar, but Poison has always been a great live band, and the videos showcase that. They're primarily just the band havin' fun. Not a single bad Poison video.

"Jump" and "Hot For Teacher" - Van Halen Dave's acrobatics are painfully fun to watch. Ow ow ow.

"Smokin' In the Boy's Room" - Motley Crue

"Right Now" - Van Hagar <_< "right now someone is walking onto a nude beach for the first time." Priceless.

"We're Not Gonna Take It" - Twisted Sister Self explanitory

"Walk This Way" - Aerosmith with Run DMC Ok, I like the original version better, but the video's cool.

"Girls of Summer" - Aerosmith Steven. S'all about Steven. Besides, those chicks were damn cool. I like the sock. Razz

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - Cyndi Lauper 'Cause Cyndi's cool.

Oy, gotta go eat, but more to be added later. Cool

lol great picks, fallen! yea i wish mtv was still cool like in the 80s (this is why i watch vh1). ack i forgot hot for teacher and jump! great videos, but david lee roth is freakishly flexible. and we're not gonna take it is also awesome, and of course walk this way. o and i forgot pat benetar's "love is a battlefield." don't know why. i just like it. and yes, cyndi lauper is very cool. i havent seen too many guns n roses videos, but i really liked the welcome to the jungle vid.

He's mah sexy gymnast...bein' that flexible makes for some very...interesting thoughts... Rolling eyes

I'll never look at Love is a Battlefield the same way again, since it's become my friend Jon's karaoke song of choice. Once you've seen a scrawny gay dude shimmy...you'll never forget it.

Welcome To the Videos is really good. As is Poison's Greatest Video Hits. And Van Halen's video hits Volume I. And Motley Crue's Video Hits. I'm ending up with a massive collection of video DVDs. And I love it. Very Happy

"White Wedding" - Billy Idol. I'm sure you can figure out why.

"Here I Go Again" - Whitesnake

lol ok i understand why you feel a little differently about "love is a battlefield." haha but karaoke is fun!

yay yes video dvds are so cool! i only have one at the moment (the drive-thru records dvd), but i borrow my friends' all the time. mostly they have record label dvds (i.e. victory records, vagrant records), but they have some good band ones too. i really want the reel big fish and weird al dvds

o i forgot "bittersweet symphony" by the verve. lol it's awesome! beautiful song but the video is so funny. the guy is just walking in the street in some city (nyc?) and he just keeps looking at the camera without looking around, so he keeps bumping into people. at one point he walks on top of a car that was parked in a driveway and the lady gets all pissed and follows him and tries to argue with him but he just keeps on singing. then there was a little interview they showed during the vid and i think they said that it had actually happened- the guy just went walking on some sidewalk and didn't let anything stop him. hehehe.

not much on video music...they either make or break a song. you have a good idea in your head and then see someones lousey production of a video that makes no sence and have that imbedded in your head everytime you hear it from then on!

Id say "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel....definetly psyco I like that!

yea i know what you mean, dabear. i hate it when a good song is turned into a crappy music video, and then that picture stays with you everytime you listen to the song. argh that's annoying.

but there are still some decent videos... i forgot to put "video killed the radio star" by the buggles (it's just classic) and "television" by the reunion show (just because they're cool...)

"Primal Scream" - Motley Crue. Really weird, dark video. It's all lit with a single lightbulb on a stick (though you can't see it) and makes the song all the cooler. It's already a great song, but the video fits the mood perfectly.

"grab it and shake it...reach down and scrape it...you've just got to...primal scream and shout, rip that mother out, you've just gotta say hey!...primal scream and shout, mmm tear it down, you've just gotta saaaaaay..." Cool

(where is everyone? The board's dead n' I feel like Stevie Rachelle... alone and posting to myself. Sad Not even Stevie's on tonight. Yet.)

*scratches chin*

I do so enjoy the vid for "Driver's High" by L'Arc En Ciel. I enjoy watching the band drive across the U.S. stealing various amounts of cash. XD

And of course I love the "Last Song" vid for Gackt. My favourite vid.

Aha! This thread has risen from the dead just for me to post more on... mwahahaha...

"You're So Vain" - Faster Pussycat - Bright colors, lots of hot (flexible) chicks, and Faster Pussycat boys. Great cover song. Taime gets the most screen time, and there are some not-so-attractive individuals, but those parts are funny. Available to watch on Launch.com! Do a video search for Faster Pussycat. Very Happy

"Shame Shame Shame" - Ratt - Stephen Pearcy scares me. WTF? Catchy chorus, strobe light, lots of black leather, and a hot chick or two. Good stuff. Weird concept.

"Lovin' You's a Dirty Job" - Ratt - Lots of hot chicks in various states of undress with lots of black leather. (I'm catering to the gentleman with my descriptions, it seems). Otherwise a typical 80s video with lots of AquaNet and bright lights.

"Poison" - Alice Cooper - I just like the song. He could riverdance through the whole thing for all I care. Razz

"18 and Life" - Skid Row - Sebitchian looks a bit much like a manly chick, but it's still a great video for the song.

"Poison Ivy" - Faster Pussycat - Platinum blonde Taime...abuse of a stuffed doll....and bowling! Sorry fellas, no hot chicks really. Some good shots of Brent, though.

"Hey Stoopid" - Alice Cooper - It's stuck in my head.

"Stiff Upper Lip" - AC/DC - all AC/DC videos are good.

"Tied To The Bells" - Tuff - Stupid special effects? Yes. Kickass song? Yes. (note to self: Draw Stevie)

"I Hate Kissing You Goodbye" - Tuff - You can actually see Stevie in this one. Pretty as ever, as chick-like as ever. Watch it just for that. He's the one Leo said he'd screw if he had tits. Rolling eyes Girls wish they could have his hair and eyes.

"Seventeen" - Winger - I like this song. Cool Typical 80s video, but what do you expect from Winger? Great song.

"Can't Get Enough" - Winger - Another catchy Winger song. Hot chicks for the fellas.

"Life Is Strange" - Enuff Z'Nuff - It's like garage band home movies. Combined with a generous amount of LSD.

"Love Don't Come Easy" - White Lion - Always an appropriate name for those guys. Hair don't get much bigger. Fun sing along semi-ballad.

"Tell Me" - White Lion - A rocker to balance out the ballad. No excuse for the wardrobe.

"The Hard Core Groove" - Bulletboys - Shut up! I know perfectly well they're lame, but I don't care. Bulletboys kick much ass. You've gotta admit they're fun to watch. Flamboyant singers rule.

"For the Love of Money" - Bulletboys - Same as above

Guess that's enough...for now. All are available on www.launch.com You have to close the player window after each one for it to play the specific video.
