There are plenty of benefits to each site.
It's easy to get lost in DA, it's huge. You may see someone in the fourms once, and never ever again.
But this site, is a lot closer kint of a community, and that is pretty neat. This was the first site I used to put my crappy artwork online and I know users here from years ago that I still talk to, which I think is pretty neat.
The other nice thing about the small size is that it is a great place for young artists to get started. If you just jump into DA you'll likely get no support
But yeah, this site hasn't seemed to be doing so well lately...'tis sad. |

I keep wanting to leave this place and then I miss it, wanting to come back to it again. This I shall do. Blade is absolutely correct in what he is saying, about this place giving out support, such as the Critique section. FAC's forums are just too addictive by half, even if you've got nothing to type. God, I so want to stay here on FAC for the moment. _________________ The Force will be with you... always. |

That is why when processing delete requests I go from the bottom of the list. Gives a grace period that way. _________________ RPG-n. Dang, people delete their accounts here?
That's sad. I mean, all those comments...and so on.
And besides, even if your work looks bad, it's good to hold onto to see where you've come from. |

I have to say this site is better for beginning artists, you get a lot more support...or it was back in my day...*feel ancient* dA gets better once you get better at art and build a small fan base. But both have a totally different environment. |

I have a DA account, but I wont upload any pics. But I hear its easier to upload pics there.
I dont know what kind of level of art im at ^^;; probably nothing great- beginner at best perhaps? But I still like it better here.
And its not that I dont have any people there to comment my art ^^;; cause Id have more there then here ^^;; I just like the atmosphere better here- just seems calmer. =P Plus it loads faster ^_^ |

Yes, even if only because dA doesn't have a approval/screening process.

deviantART uses a bunch of bells & whistles to make their site feel more 'interactive'...some of which actually helps reduce the time their server spends generating pages, but it also makes the layout less compatible with older browser software and certain bugs trickier to diagnose. Also, deviantART is not only bigger than FAC it is MUCH bigger; it has more awesome artists than FAC has artists total, so unless you have a few friends already when you sign up, it can actually be hard to get noticed at all. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I think there used to be more users and activity on FAC in the past. I don't know why, but it seems to me that this site is getting smaller. FAC may have many members registered but few of them are really active. There aren't as may participants in the contests as there used to be, and the community project section is almost dead. _________________ |
The forum is to what you make it. So don't come on bitching of how boring the forum is. Although FAC is seeming to be dying.
I'm still here. Sure, the forums get a little quiet and all, but well... Say: some of the mods should do some advertising. Get other folk to come here and see what they think. Just a rubbish thought.
PS: Is the idea of a poll still strong? I'd like to see one on the front page, please. _________________ The Force will be with you... always. |
