Yeah actually, I am annoyed with it.
For the simple fact of:
Thread, post your favorite bands. That's it. No discuss about it. I just wanted to know what everyone listened to. But then you get this crap about picking everything a part. Arguement or not. There are ways to discuss without sounding like an ass.
But regardless, I'll change the first post then. Then leave the thread alone. I have more things I need to do that sit infront of the computer and try to explain that little detail to you guys. So, respond to this if you'd like, but I'm not going to read it. If you want to discuss any futher with me, PM me. x)
But, I can't say that I'll be likely to answer that either. Won't have time for much for much of any of it.
And not like I'll lose any sleep from it.
Have fuun. ~ <3
No offense, but no one cares if you're annoyed with it. It's not like a thread's your baby and we're poking at it trying to make it shit itself.
Besides, a thread without discussion/argument is boring as a stillborn. |

Ok, i skimmed through the thread, October needs a couple more months on the forums....
On other topics, i agree with Flea, listen to stuff like opeth!
They have very cool rythms since its not just 16ths with one powerchord per compass,
their riffs are fun, although when the screaming voice comes in you just can't keep listening. The drums are a little bit over the top for my taste but well, thats most of new metal. Still, if you listen to songs like "Patterns in the Ivy" or "the grand conjuration"you can listen how talented they really are.
Slipknot is the same, listen to Vermillion part two and you can't even think its the same guys because its too soft to be slipknot, and still it shows great musicianship.
I plainly don't like downtuning in most cases, it just sounds weird.... but its what's mainstream now.
I don't agree on the fact that rock (punk, metal, whatever) instead of evolving has degressed.
Some people might think so, and its because of the mainstream music, most good bands with vintage/real metal sound and technical abilities don't get to the mainstream, because the labels need music that is quickly digestable for our ears, short stuff with lots of hooks that we can easily remember for a couple of weeks and then forget until someone plays the cd or we hear it on the radio. These are songs that in a couple of years no one will remember at all.
and i have another idea... but i think it needs a new thread.... _________________

well, what was this topic supposed to be about again?
'educated opinions' is being a little generous, fallen. especially given this forum's history.
where would motley crue and guns n roses fit in 'round here? or is it not 'metal' enough for the kiddies?
and i'm sorry doomhammer, but 'evolution' does not cut it for me. 'evolution' implies progress, and 'metal' hasn't been going in a particularly favorable direction.
There's a lot of truth in your last couple of statements, though. |

I don't know exactly what this is referring to, but this forum...or at least the subforum...has a long, sordid history of people who know a guitar from a trumpet discussing things among kids who think TRL and Hot Topic are oracles of musical brilliance.
I don't know why some people seem to think that it's acceptable when referring to music to only say "BSB R TEH BEST!!! AND HAWT!!!!" when that's not tolerated in relation to anything else. People explain why a movie was good. Or a book. Either have an educated opinion or stfu. I'm not the only one who stands by that.

Motley Crue would fit in with a nice comeback, current Gn'R being a long running joke, classic Gn'R just being kewl and too frequently pimped by well meaning people trying to impart taste on the lesser informed.... and both not being very "metal" in the process. Motley is hair metal. For the majority of their career. Minus Too Fast For Love and anything after Dr. Feelgood. And Gn'R are hard rock.
Both are just "those old dudes" to the kiddies.
There was a reeeeeally long Gn'R thread a couple years ago. But it was with Sixx. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

i would be reffering to the latter.

Thanks. Hair metal has the word 'metal' in it, so that's good enough for me.
|

Good enough for me too, but it's too much trouble to try to point out its merits when most people can't get past some silly hair and spandex. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
