I only stopped because I couldn't remember what chapter I was at. >.< Usopp's voice is terrible... but i like Sanji's voice. XD I'm cool like that.

You like David Moo's absence of acting, incredibly fake mobster accent with a bad headcold voice?
If you remember what happened in the last one you read, I can tell you which one it was. _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

I just watched the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh. Subtitled. Would've thought they'd have stuck to the Shadow game in the manga and not made up more "friendly" ones. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Ehm... I think I just finished Tom's story, with Franky.
Yeah... I like his voice... probably the only person ever who does. But I can mimic it almost perfectly! |

That would probably be either chapter 357 or 358. 357 is the one where Tom is carried away on the train and Franky tries to stop it.

Oh, thanks. And what a sad chapter it is... poor Franky. And what a shame, Franky was actually not a bad lookin feller before he... uh... fixed himself. That sounds dirtier than I meant it to. Anyways, getting a little off-topic now... (is there a One Piece thread? If not, someone should make one.) |

I still think Franky is kind of hot. In a funky blue-haired, Popeye-armed, cola-powered, speedo wearin' cyborg way. XD Someone made an AMV to the Budlight commercial for "Mr. Tiny Thong Bikini wearer"
Yeah, someone should make a One Piece thread. *everyone waits for another to make a thread* _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

I almost always prefer the Japanese versions of animes to dubs with the exception of Samurai Champloo, I think that dub is very good. But a good dub is VERY rare (look at Naruto, Shaman King, Card Captor Sakura, One Piece, etc.)
And as for censorship, I'm against it. As long as the appropriate warnings are put up before the show airs, it's people's own fault if they see something they don't like. Like in the Gravitation anime, they took out all the sexy scenes between Eiri Yuki and Shuichi on the American DVD's. WTF. |

Ive noticed alot of bad dubs too, like Zatch Bell for example they turn the color of the guns green and make them shoot lasers.....Ridiculous.-- also on Full metal alchemist they edited out Scar Blowing some ones head off but dubs on FMA are rare so thats good. and one more thing, 4kids missed a spot. I can remember on an early episode of Poke'mon ( episode 2 or 4 or somthing.) me and my brother heard Ash say "Cut the crap Shiro" interesting... it was on cartoon network Btw. |

the dubbed version of naruto makes my ears bleed. my god, i couldnt even see the credits because i only watch 20 seconds of it. the voice actors are fimiliar from other poorly dubbed animes like bayblade (i dont watch it any more though). the voice for naruto is cheesy & sakuras voice turns into this pure bitch (well she is some what of a bitch in the japanese version). i also noticed how much mew mew power sucked ass dubbed. why cant the dumbass dubbers leave it alone and publish it with subs?? the manga of Tokyomew mew (mew mew power for those minors) has crucial parts of the anime. i laughed my ass off when i was watching the first ep. for those small optomisstic children watching it they would have been surprised to find out what really happend. they edited out the bit where ichigo (zoey[[uggh, that name for an anime charaters makes my ears bleed]]) & a cat appear, naked (OMG even tho she was coverd with her hands they still edited it out!) they dicided to edit that out, leaving children to figure out how she bacame a cat. i havent watched anyother episodes after that because it was so shit.
also, most dubbed animes miss alot of parts, and decide to cut out alot of parts which include blood, homosexual, lesbain sences. why? im not so sure. probably they think that peoples minds cannot configure with other things. EXSAMPLE: the Naruto dubbers decided to cut out the bit where naruto accidently kisses sasuke. i give the dubbers cred because they dicided to leave their japanese names, unlike bayblade, mew mew power, pokemon, digimon & sailor moon. they cut out alot of parts which include blood in naruto.
oh well, my many lines of ranting might have a difference in the world, but im not sure. _________________ Hurhur. Yeah that's right. |

It annoyed me that they cut Naruto and Sasuke kissing in the Naruto. I mean, did the dubbers see it and think, "o noes! two guys kissing! We must protect the children!"
Also, why change the japanese names when the anime is set in Japan? And why change the yen to dollars in dubs (Gravitation), when the anime is set in Japan? |

I liked dubs...until I saw the uncut versions at a friend's house, online, or I bought them. I like some of the music in the Sailor Moon dub and the voices did grow on me, but I'm so used to looking at the original (I own all 5 seasons uncut), I don't ever know if I could go back to the dub. Same with other anime; usually, it's the voices that I like. I actually like the voices in Tenchi Muyo and Inu Yasha better in the dub than the original. Don't even get me started with DBZ...Goku and Burdock's voices get on my nerves, as I think they're way too high. It sounded like someone kicked them in the groin or something, for them to be so strong. The voices are the only thing that I like about the DBZ dub, though; I like both the voices and the music in the Bardock special. I much prefer 'Bardock's' voice (dub) vs. Burdock. I wish I could get a boxset of DB/Z that's bilingual: that way, I can hear what's originally being said, but later, I can watch the episodes uncut but with the dub voices. I've heard that a lot of things (mostly sexual or violent) were cut from it.
I did wonder for the longest why 'Cardcaptors' didn't last too long. I really want to see the original. Same with 'Mew Mew Power'; I want to see the original.
I will give credit to the dubs as far as pulling me into anime; otherwise, I wouldn't have known about anime in the first place. But that's about it...I don't understand the inconsistancies in the dub sometimes as well as removing pointless things. Even things like removing a scene where a character smokes or slaps another; hell, even Disney has smokers and Cruella DeVil certainly slapped Horace and Jasper. O.o
I do agree that Samarai Champloo is a well done dub, as well as Ranma 1/2, IMO. They left the nude scenes, Happosai's panty raids and groaping, violence (mostly slapping and kicking others), and Ukyo's occasional "jackass" comments towards Ranma in. _________________ Fools aren't born; pretty girls make them in their spare time.

Samuraii Champloo was a good dub, because it wasn't touched by 4Kids. Blergh they seem to ruin which ever anime they get their grubby little hands on, 4Kids. _________________ Hurhur. Yeah that's right. |

They ruined Naruto with the Dubs. *Sigh* The "Believe It"(Some people might be looking at my avatar now, but that's just funny). Cutting out the blood scenes. Skipping important parts.
I like the Dubbed version of Shaman King though. |
Episode 21 of Outlaw Star. They cut it out, and it was THE KEY episode that sets up the rest of the plot. Without it, the remaining episodes make no sense.
Yah I don't get it those at Funimation and crap like that think that even the tiniest things are absolutly horrible. I swear I have to kill them!
When I watched Black Cat on Funimation I could of sworn that they did something to it because some parts for the life of me I couldn't figure out if they had been in the Japanese version or not (I was so confused!) I can watch InuYasha dubbed because its not half bad. And the one I've seen that actually keeps everything would have to be Gundam SEED. I can't stand the voices sometimes but at least it's all still there. |
