Yay! My first post!
I'm not the best drawer (and I won't be able to horrify anyone with my drawings until my scanner is fixed) so I don't have this kind of handwriting to compare to or whatever, but I was seeing if anyone else noticed.
Well I know the most artists, especially the good ones, have a certain kind of hand-writing that they use. I don't really know what to call it, maybe jerky, pointy-ish? If you've ever seen tutorials with really good drawings for an example, if there is any handwriting next to it take a look at it and then compare it to another artist's handwriting. It seems they have similar features.
I think that is kind of weird how handwriting tells a lot about the person you are. ^_^ |

My handwriting sucks. It's not even the cool, messy kind. It's the kind where I can read it perfectly, but everyone else can't figure out what words are because the letters are so deformed. I have a bad habit of leaving letters like a and o open so they look like a u or v. I think it's because my 1st grade teacher taught me to hold a pencil weird. All my teachers for three years after that would get mad at me for holding it "wrong" and try to force me to use those little rubber grip things. Odd thing is half the time I hold a pencil the "right" way while drawing. Meh.
I know the kind you're talking about, though. But it sure ain't mine! _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Hahaha, mine is the same way. I usually make my 'r' really small so it just looks like the letter next to it is slightly deformed like they melted together. It's so bad that if my friends need to copy off someone's notes, and they've been complaining about it all day, then if I say, 'Oh here, use mine!' they refuse. Oh-so-hurtful. Maybe if I didn't write so fast it would be nicer. That's why I need to use pencil instead of pen to write crap.
I had to use the rubber grips, too. Actually, even if you held it right the teacher made us use them. And we even had to pay .20 cents for them, too. I loathe that teacher now... |

We had to buy them, too. All the other kids thought they were cool 'cause they were all neon colors, but to me they were just uncomfortable. So I'd take them off, then they'd come over and bitch at me about "well you'll never learn to hold a pencil correctly if you don't try." I like the way I hold a pencil. I can write really fast. Sloppy and small, but fast. I do the r thing, too! S's tend to run onto other letters... or just look like a line instead of an actual s.
Yeah, my writing sucks. I'd scan some of it, but you'd all stab your eyes out in horror. My signature's even worse because I never really learned to write in cursive, either. I can if I really concentrate, but it all looks wobbly and the letters are slanted in different directions. My "signature" never looks the same. I hate cursive anyway. People who write in cursive annoy me because I can't read it. Like teacher comments on essays. No idea what half of them say. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yup. I used to take it off but my second grade teacher was a real bitch, and I was a good little girl, so I just used it. Pfft, not like it made my writing any better. I do the 's' thing, and people mistake my 'v' for a 'u.' A 'g' just looks like a small curve because it never seems to get that 'o' part to it. Sometimes if I'm writing fast enough I get ahead of myself and forget to write in a word.
I can do a decent signature, but I only just learned how. I copied off my dad's 'f' for the beginning of my last name and I made up my own 'j.' It looks retarded but oh well. OMFG I know I hate cursive unless it's a signature. One of my teachers has smaller, cramped handwriting than me and THAT is saying something. And it's always in green pen. I can't read it..I'm forced to ask my mom what it says and lord knows I hate showing her school work. |

What's funny is when I was little (kindergarten) everyone would comment on how good my handwriting was. It never really progressed past that point. I have trouble with the rounded parts of letters, too. g d b a o R p q etc. Somehow the round part never works properly.
I get ahead of myself all the time; that's why I rarely write in pen. I'll leave out letters or be thinking something else and accidently write it down...
(3:26am and I've stayed up to discuss poor handwriting...wow...) _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Well, my handwriting wasn't always sloppy. Actually it was...it only looked good because it was on those weird dotted papers in first grade. But around third grade I thought those bubbly, rounded handwriting that a lot of girls have was cool so I tried to write like that, but I couldn't perfect it. I ended up mutating my writing into tiny looking crap you can hardly read. And I worked off of that. ^-^
We have to write in pen or else the teachers will yell at you. They're always breathing down your neck. It gets annoying. Yup...if people read my writing I wouldn't be surprised if it said, "My dog is part beagle, yellow lab, and else only the vet said didn't know else is. She is really and is starting to bald." That might be exaggerating but still. ^_^
It's 6:35 A.M here. Since school let out I've been up all night and sleeping all day. It's not really fun anymore, either, when I want to go to bed at normal hours but can't. |

Gotta love that gray paper with huge inch tall guidelines. Tracing letters then writing them on your own. Now that was a good lesson right there. Who needs calculus when you can trace the letter Q ten times? Except when it got into tracing cursive letters. I want no part in that nonsense.
I have such male handwriting. In fact, I should probably just be a guy, for how often I have to say "that was a very male answer I just gave...". We did these projects (don't even remember what they were, something about having a circle and drawing and writing things inside it to represent ourselves...) my freshman year. The teacher held them up and had everyone try to guess whose they were. He held mine up, and everyone said "it's definitely a guy's!". I can't do "chick" handwriting. Big round letters n' all. But at least when we have to write a long answer in an insanely small space on a worksheet, my answer fits while they're writing in the margins. One small victory for the ugly small handwriting.
(same here. Bed in the morning, up in the afternoon.) _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Ugh..calculus. Thankfully I'm still in middle school. But yes...that grey paper is the best. Do you write grey or gray? Which one is right? Another one of my stupid handwriting thingies.^_^
Well...my handwriting does look horrible but it doesn't look entirely male. It only looks really bad compared to everyone who uses the bubbly stuff. You'd think since I'm a feminine girl kind of person I would have that writing, too, but nooo! I'm stuck with this. But everyone who uses bubble handwriting acts the same to me, so at least the peeps with bad writing are unique!
OH YEAH, even if our handwriting is small at least we can fit it on the paper. That's probably the only good thing, plus we write quicker.

Ah, lucky. One more year of calc for me (well, plus college math, but provided I get into a decent art school...screw difficult math). I write gray and grey, whichever I feel like. No idea which one is correct. Probably grey, just because it looks better.
Another benefit of small, ugly handwriting... much harder for people to copy off your paper. Which is either a good thing for you or a good thing for them. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

*shudders* Don't want to have to do that. I think I heard they use grey in Europe or vice versa but I have no clue if that's right.
Yes, that's good too. It's probably a good thing for me, because somehow I manage to keep my grades up. It does irk me when people copy, I mean, they could at least ask! |

My handwriting is the worst ever. I handwrite and print like a gr.1 student. It really is sad.
The example is pretty much the same as if i were to write it on paper. I suck. _________________ |

You're handwriting is God-like compared to mine. Even when I'm being neat. I like your signature, too. ^-^ |

LOL you mean the Eminem one? I think he looks good in that pic thingy. Don't worry, every time I write it turns out chicken scratch only, much, much worse. Worse then seeing an old lady bend over. Worse than dog poo. Haha. |

lol.. the eminem sig is an example of my amazing photoshop skills......... I suck at makn avatars and such. So I just throw em together and make them look as crappy as possible. :)
And I don't know if there is anything worse than seeing an old lady bend over... maybe seeing an obese old lady bend over.. naked. _________________ |

Bleh...I'm still working out how to use the dang Paintshop Pro 7 until we get Photoshop. It is really annoying. I've been trying to make layers and stuff but it just won't work. Trust me, my work is crappy, too.
Oh. My. Gosh. Well...yeah, I guess that would be worse. MUCH worse. NOOO THE MENTAL IMAGE!!! *covers eyes* |

I've been using versions of photoshop for the past three years now I suppose.. maybe a lil longer than that. I've gotten better but still not at the level i wanna be at. I give it another year. If I havn't improved by then... i'ma cry :)
Here is an example of what I do on photoshop.. the top right and bottom left actually.. the bottom right is too but it was a throw away.

Hehehe. I'm sure you will. Practice makes perfect...but if nobody's perfect why practice? Love that saying. ^-^
Well I know what to do in Photoshop since the paint one is very alike. It looks so much better than mine. *sigh* |
