picture id:773538

now im really confused about this because ive done what always worked for me before when sizing them down from their initial umpteen zillion pizels from fresh scanned into the computer to a much more managable computer screen sized (18 inch monitor) via screenshot and paint app. so for some reason they told me it was too large and yet i have many of my gallery pics done in exactly the same way and i wasn't told they were too large.

also, just for the record, why does my auto submit keep being turned off? it's happened on a few occasions now nd im mildly curious as to why.

Images over a certain size threshold will be placed in the queue for screening regardless of whether you normally have auto status or not. The system probably needs some tweaking, but....

If I recall correctly, the size check kicks in at around 1600px on either dimension.

okay i twitched it within an inch of its life, and it was definetly within those parameters. like about 498 by 624, bitmap image. still triggered the submissions que. also, whenever this has been happening, it has been recinding my auto submit when ive not submitted anything for a month or two. is this a failsafe type affair that affects everybody? or am i just being paranoid again?

Maybe I can explain a few more fine points:

1 - Monitored categories: If you receive a notice that a category is monitored, this doesn't affect your auto status at all.
2 - Similarly, the submission process has a few size/rating checks that can cause your auto status to be ignored. Again, this doesn't actually affect your auto status any.
3 - Users are not generally aware of their auto status to begin with.
4 - If a submission is rejected (for whatever reason), this can remove auto status from your account.
5 - Site staff have ability to set or remove auto status from users.
6 - That being said, we usually don't even bother with this ability in the first place.

Judging by our staff tools, I think I know what happened here.

1 - You did have auto status before.
2 - Submission #773538 was queued for screening because of its size.
3 - The submission was rejected, and doing so automatically removed auto status from your account.
4 - By filing a new submission, it was queued for approval because you didn't have auto status anymore.

If you read your submission notices, you may note that your submission was declined for a "minor reason". This means if you check your submission log page, you can actually edit the submission and put it back into the queue for a second review. There is no need to resubmit it as a separate piece.

oops disregard what i said before, if you saw it at any rate before i edited this post. But im curious now as to why it was triggered on account of size when i have a lot bigger pictures in my gallery already.

(if your paying attention to your account it's fairly easy to notice when auto submit turns on strata =])

Easy. The size check is hardcoded, any image larger than the threshold is queued for approval regardless of whatever the submission actually needs to be that size. Some do, others don't.
