We are about to engage in a months long marathon of non-documentary war-related movies. I'm not sitting through "Gone With the Wind," "Lawrence of Arabia," or "Ben-Hur" again. Mostly not looking for anything made before the 60s, stuff not in English, or Star Wars. What am I missing?

In no particular order...

Gangs of New York

Black Hawk Down

Platoon

Full Metal Jacket

Flags of Our Fathers

Letters from Iwo Jima

300

Lord of the Rings 1-3

Good Morning, Vietnam

The Thin Red Line

Patton

MASH

Saving Private Ryan

1776

Good Night, and Good Luck

The Crossing

Forrest Gump

Jacob's Ladder

Dr. Strangelove

Glory

Gettysburg

Gods and Generals

Schindler's List

Inglourious Basterds

Pan's Labyrinth

Spartacus

Canadian Bacon

Gladiator

The Empire of the Sun

Hotel Rwanda

The English Patient

Persepolis

Seven Years in Tibet

The Killing fields

Miracle at St Anna

Legends of the Fall

Starship Troopers

MacArthur

Midway

Kelly's Heroes

Memphis Belle

Courage Under Fire

A Midnight Clear

Three Kings

Heartbreak Ridge

Jarhead

Ride with the Devil

Stripes

Tropic Thunder

Actually, the real question is, why am I expecting helpful answers from you people? _________________ Go Yankees!

 Inglourious Basterds

Pan's Labyrinth (In Spanish, but it's about the Spanish Civil War)

Spartacus (right before Strangelove, I think)

Canadian Bacon

These I've personally seen. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

 Gladiator.

Does Lord Of The Flies count? FAC use to remind me of that movie back in the good old Blad days.

 Added.

I wouldn't say Lord of the Flies is a war movie. Do you mean the first or the second one? I've seen the old one before (back in school). Was alright.

The Reds - The only genuinely pro-Soviet October Revolution movie I've seen.

The Empire of the Sun (lol, Christian Bale)

The English patient

The Tin Drum - Another German movie, banned in Oklahoma, based on a book that I own that I can never get through BECAUSE IT'S TOO LONG.

Seven Years in Tibet (Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959)

The Killing fields (Third Indochina war)

Au revoir les enfants - French movie, on WWII

Suicidal level:

What's up with all the surprisingly helpful responses?

List updated. Some things were left out because they didn't sound interesting, I've seen them recently, I've seen them too many times (Casablanca, Monty Python), or they were just really, really dull the first time around. Like Tora! Tora! Tora! Seriously. People like that movie? _________________ Go Yankees! |
