..on the subject of waiting, is the AP going away any time soon?
When I run out of volunteers it's gone. Was going to remove it last time, but Battou showed up, and we got DAOL.

When they loose interest, I'll probably kill it.

As for Pheral and Sam. They were created by Raymei and DG-sama. There was a mascot poll. They tied.

The poll may still be in the forums somewhere.

Then you'll never "kill it", because I still try my best to check it at least once everyday. Rolling Eyes (Meaning I'll still hang around there and process submissions, and probably will be for a while. I'm just not sure how much the rest of you stand on keeping/trashing AP.)

Haha, are you serious? I think you should give that cookie to the other staff members. They work much harder than I do. Wink

AP seems pointless... honestly? Most of the pictures I rejected was because they were drawn on lined paper, cropped weirdly, or wrong category. It was depressing to see 10-year olds submit in the wrong category multiple, multiple times, there was one user who looked like they made the same mistake 20+ times, that's just sad. The lined paper rule is relaxed now, I think. And the category thing... that problem is never going away. I can either be really specific to aid people who search for pictures or be general to aid people who are submitting it. There never really seemed to be the middle ground. Also, having to continuously update the anime/manga category depending on the fad anime of the day seems somewhat endless. in DA all that shit goes under anime/manga.

Also, don't bash DA based on like... 30 minutes skim of the site.
the adult content filters where set to show warning thumbnail for guests.
No, actually. Account ID #0 (the placeholder for guest preferences) is set to filter content instead of showing warning thumbs.

Just a reminder, however, that these are just the defaults and even guests can select different filter options while browsing galleries.
I have never, ever run into a picture on dA that required a subscription to view. You need a subscription to search for pictures that were submitted ages ago (years and years and years), but the pictures themselves are accessible to everyone.

If you mean you have to sign up to view adult or potentially offensive pictures, then most websites are like that. I think FAC is like that. Youtube is like that. It's not unusual.
dA currently has a three-level content system: First is "General", second is "Mature Warning" which gives a warning thumbnail, and third is "Mature Strict", which hides content unless you've set your view preferences to display it. I do not know whether this affects being able to view the piece via its URL.

I had actually checked this visually for PL prior to sending a family member a link and it was as I has stated for guests. I never log out of my accounts so any variation to these subtleties between the sites easily go unnoticed.

I never knew about the south park bit. Thats pretty interesting.

As for the thanks, you're plenty welcome. Tho I don't deserve it yet. The code I've already provided is shit. Lots of rewriting ahead of me. lol.

FAC has its own glory, and plenty of potential.
