Just because it's been such a hot topic from other forums I'm on, I thought I'd share it here.
The American company Radical Publishing has announced that it halted the production and distribution of Nick Simmons' Incarnate comic book series on Wednesday evening, amid allegations that the comic plagiarized Tite Kubo's Bleach manga. According to Radical, "We are taking this matter seriously and making efforts now to contact the publishers of the works in question in an effort to resolve this matter." Shueisha publishes Bleach in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, while Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.
Nick Simmons, Gene Simmon's son (Member of KISS), has been accused for tracing and blatant copying from Bleach, Hellsing, and many other mangas. (Other places such as CNN, CBR, and many other news sites have picked up on the story.)

For more evidence and comparing pics, you can go to the LJ comm, Bleachness:
http://community.livejournal.com/bleachness/446299.html

(Although I'm not particularily fond of that comm, since it's openly hostile to the pairing I support, they still have everything in one spot.)

The two outlooks at the whole situation are radically different. Very hostile, angry, infuriated, etc., and there are those who understand it's out of fans hands and leave it alone, lol. Kubo Tite is aware of the situation, but appears to be more concerned about figure skating than the situation. (As his twitter goes directly from his revelation to him talking about figure skating. Rolling Eyes)
Actually, from last night til this morning, a huge number of foreign fans were saying "This American manga is ripping off Bleach!" or something like that. Well, I looked at the site, but I can't really read English, and it's a manga made by Gene Simmons' son.

正直似てるかどうかより、ジーン・シモンズの息子が漫画家ってことのほうが気になる…
Actually, whether it's plagiarism or not, I'm more worried about the fact that Gene Simmon's son is a mangaka.
Your thoughts?

Niiicccck you sexy 6'7ft tall bastard how could youuuuu? Leave the tracing to the lil 8 yr olds. Don't do something you can obiviously get caught for!

(If they can convict a husband on murder by finding his dead wife's fingernail in a river after he put her through a woodchipper via forensics; they can catch a tracer.)

But it's surprising he got away with it for so long. There was actually a YouTube video up six months ago, claiming the same thing (that he traced), but no one listened.

1: Probly cause the video was on youtube.
2: They thought the person or persons was no doubt a jealous hater(s) even though they had evidence.

Kubo Tite is a bad manga artist and people should make at least 50 million dollars a year from plagiarizing his work.

Also, Bankai, everywhere.

Actually the one peice manga artist is horrible. Along with bloody pokemon. I secretly want to murder whoever created pokemon. That and the sonic creater. >_>

Not really, its actually 'pokemon/yugioh rip offs everywhere!' (Bakugan anyone?)

I have yet to see a flat out rip off of Bleach.

Bleach is good, but not FMA good.

And im curious about these tracings now, I want to take a gander at them myself. I mean....how obvious are the tracings?

And im wondering how Gene Simmons is reacting to all this.

Pokemon isn't a manga. It had manga adaptations. It currently had something like 12-15 different artists working on different projects. Your points moot.

Also, One Piece artist is one of the better artists working for Shonen Jump. His action is well-laid out, not cluttering like Bleach. He also has a flair for character development and design. Something Tite fails horribly. Oda won bunch of awards in the manga industry. judged by industry professionals who have much better opinions than you.

Well that's your opinion isent it?

One peice SUCKS in my opinion, deal with it. I dont care hoowwww many awards this guy won blah blah blah. Big deal, it's like the sonic of manga, getting fussed over even though it's no big deal at all, just a bunch of pirates in my opinion. Plus it has a clown and I'm not fond of clowns, especially ones that have floating body parts.

Bleach is good, and it's popular amongst many viewers, which is why it wasent a very good idea for Nick to trace a very well known manga. Really it's like tracing pokemon characters or nintendo characters it's that obvious to spot.

If he was going to trace something, should have been something that wasent very popular. Like a super old manga that didnt have much promise. But then again, stealing from another artist is wrong on all accounts. You cant get away with anything nowadays.

Big deal, it's like the Waterworld of manga, getting fussed over even though it's no big deal at all, just a bunch of retarded high school students in my opinion. Plus it has no clowns and I'm fond of clowns, especially ones that have PROPER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

People who think One Piece sucks can't get over the fact that the characters don't look like every manga character out there (but with different hair and colors), and clearly have never taken the time to give it a chance. :v

I'm not sure why you're bringing up the number of fans Bleach has since..
The individual chapters are being published in tankōbon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997 and the 56th volume released as of December 2009. In 2009, Shueisha announced that they sold 176 million volumes of One Piece manga so far, making it the highest selling manga in history.
Also the Nick Simmons is two parts hilarious and one part terrifying. God, that is an ugly comic.

Yeah still, I didnt like the story plot of one peice, got all the way up to where Lumi rescues Nami from that fella with the sword fish-like nose and then got tired of it cause it dragged on for what seemed like ages.

Only character I liked out of the whole entire cast was that fella with the gigantic sword and fancy clothes and beard that stomped Zolo royally. Now that was a bad ass.

Also bleach does have fans out there, plus it's very noticable if you are ripping off the character styles of a popular show/manga amongst viewers. Usually from what I see, the newest Bleach episodes on Adult swim held the top views for weeks before hitting the 2nd or 3rd most viewed shows being somewhere in the 30 thousands or somewhere near that number.

Sure the style may not be as noticable as one peice, but that would be plain right FOOLISH to copy that style, or Astro boy style. He thought he could get away with assuming not many are into this manga blah blah so he would try to take the style etc. But unbeknownst to him, there are fans and others out there who clearly noticed.

Also would someone be soooo kind as to toss up one of his tracings via img? (No hot linking, we dont want that again x_X) I wanna take a gander for myself and I just left the library.

Nick made a statement.
“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium.

“I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other Manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”
Good job, Nick. Way to fail.

Also, go to the Bleachness link up top, Sarah, and they have tons or tracings/etc.

I would believe him, if those tracings werent complete rip offs. I only had to glance through a few of them to know they were traced. X_____x
(The white haired kenpachi even has scars too!! xD and you say it took them months before they caught him?)

I agree, bad nick bad! Pick up a guitar instead dude.
(I do give him kudos on that bitchin scythe the kenpachi rip off is holding though...unless he stole that design from somewhere too.)

wow what a punk, really that is the most pathetic excuse ever.
he was tracing other people work. period.
it was not a homage , was just being lazy and stealing other peoples work.
that shows his ability as an artist is lacking.
personally i think he should develop his style and not try to copy everyone else. this is personally one of the things i never liked bout anime style, people
who draw this style seem to take a anime they like and draw their characters that way. and dont develop their styles.
understand the basics before you just stick to one thing.

What's even worse is that the manga goes by the same theme as bleach it looks like. I mean..wow no trying to cover up his tracks or anything.

He doesnt know the meaning of the word homage.
Nick I be disappointed in you, give him a good smack to the head daddy Gene! xD

Brianhjh: "Also, Bankai. Everywhere."

This phrase is hillarious, I don't know why, but it is. Thats what bleach is about, much like super saiyan was an excuse to dramatize "powering up", bankai is very much the same. Bleach is succesful despite being mindless and not having impressive art, it offers this complex world by not doing anything at all, it does this by being very vague and offering up *Bankai* to keep us distracted. So... yeah.
