Well, I thought it was an Online Game, I think you just play it off a site, or that's the impression I got, after my friend showed it to me, the art is awesome! |

The confusion is probably because there is more than one Magna Carta game.
There's Magna Carta: The Phantom Of Avalanche, which came out first and is, I believe, a PC game. I'm personally not sure where to buy that, but...
The other game is Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. An earlier translation (I believe) entitled the game 'Crimson Stigmata' instead, but it should be the same thing. This game is for PS2.
I just picked up Tears of Blood myself at the nearest Gamestop. You might be able to find it at Best Buy or somewhere like that; all depends on whether or not they have the game in stock.
The game is good, but there are some drawbacks. After all, the original game was PC and this game is, although RPG, not oriented to Video Game RPG-veterans. And the American opening theme is unbelievable cheesy and unsuiting, but blah blah, that's personal opinion.
The game has, don't be fooled, turn-based battle. However, the time it takes to reach your turn is real-time based (you wait for a gauge to fill up) and there's also button-timing involved to keep you interested.
I think the greatest thing going for this game is simply the artist, Hyung-TaeKim. Don't expect the rest of the game to quite live up to expectations. However, I'd still say it's a pretty decent game. Check online sites for better reviews.
Personally, I like the character designs, and the graphics are pretty cool as well. The background music is also pretty decent.
My only main pet peeve with this game is the voice-acters. They, to put it simply, SUCK. I mean, there's even the dialogue shown below, but some idiot in command made the voice acters speak so slow it just makes you want to stab something. And you can't even skip it. The voices drone on, the facial expressions can kind of suck sometimes (attempting to follow the artist too closely, I believe) and jesus, would it kill to try and add some intonation or actual EMOTION?
Otherwise though, pretty decent game. Hope you can find it. $55 I believe for me got me the box edition of the game with the actual game itself (one disc), a double-sided full-color poster, and the Art Book - Strategy Guide, which comes in pretty handy.
Good luck, and enjoy~ :) _________________ |
