Participate, show you're a responsible member of the site, and when a need for volunteers comes up, offer your services and put yourself up for consideration. Smile

Denis reopens the volunteers thread. It's kept low key to prevent 50 people from volunteering and making the decision harder.

Everyone will look over the volunteers, and those chosen will be contacted with information, instructions, etc. Staff members have to keep a close eye on the forums for changes in procedure, announcements and such, so those who already do so make the best candidates anyway.
