The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.

It's brilliant; the plot is the most original I have ever seen or read and the characters are nothing short of superb. It can be difficult to understand, being set in another time-line of Earth, but it is amazing.

The Lord of the Rings series is pretty good, but I've only just finished the first book and about 1/8th of the second. Edgar Allen Poe's stuff is really good, too.

I like "Dante's Inferno" by Dante Alighieri.

I find his concept of contrapasso to be very creative. Also, in its original language, the rhyming poetry sounds beautiful. (I think I got a great translated version of the book. The teacher for my literature class read it in its original language pointed out some other interesting points about this work too.)

I love Dante's Inferno. His hell is, at the same time tortuous, very interesting and enlightening. I'd rather be in Limbo than anywhere else.
I have a lot of favorites, but
Darkly Dreaming Dexter-Jeff Lynsey
Bourne Idenity-Robert Ludlum
Full Tilt-Neil Shusterman.
Darkly Dreaming Dex is so cool 'cuz it's about a serial killer who kills serial killer. Everyone should read it because it is totally awesome!
I like House of the Scorpian and Edgar Allen poe too.

Yeah, I read "The Outsiders" as well for a class reading kind of thing. It was actually better than I thought, and it was funny hearing my classmate who never cussed say things like 'damn'.
