There are many improvments always planned for FAC. What does everyone want the most?

I would really like an option to display pictures from new to old instead of from old to new in the profiles. It's easier to see if people have new works, and it's less scrolling.

I would love to see an oekaki board. I actually had one a while ago but it got deleted 'cause no one had used it in months.

I didn't really want to cast my vote for #4, but I myself wouldn't benefit from the other options much if at all, and after what Lexar said, well... ;)

In that light, I would like to see the same sort & list options that we have for categories (sort method and # pictures per page) applied to artist galleries (especially thumbnails) and the recent thumbnails page. Less scrolling also means less bandwidth required.

Didn't see it on the list, but maybe some easier way to respond to comments? (more like it'll look threaded?)

I think its better to leave comments as simple. they are not meant to be forums, just comments.

What I meant was for more instances when a commenter has a question or whatnot, not to answer every single comment.

The last option is a little scary. Maybe flash animations would be alright, but adding movies and programs...
other than file size issues, programs can be tricky business.

Many people will simply drop a comment on the picture to show they answered it. HOWEVER, it's better to go visit the person's FAC profile page and drop the response there so that they get an e-mail alert to know that you've responded to them.

PS: I've been wondering, what do "paint chat" and "better manga/doujin support" mean?

paint chat is a Java applet that lets you draw and chat. It may eventually be used as a replacement for the chatroom (which I think is rather inactive anyway).

better manga/doujin/comic support is to let those kind of things be like one entry with pages under it, insted of each page being its own picture. This could make it easier to read and follow and could make submissions easier.

My vote goes to #4. I would like the improvement that Lexar mentioned and perhaps e-mail notifications when a person in the fav artist list submits a new pic. Those would be nice improvements ^_^

I see. In that light...

#2 - Oekaki/paint bbs: Sounds easy enough, e.g. maybe have an "Oekaki" link that almost all guests can use (but only logged-in members can use for FAC submissions), then on the Add Fanwork page, there'd be a link for "Submit Oekaki" that does the same. After completing the oekaki, they go straight to the page for choosing the title/rating/category and description like with a normal picture, then it goes through the Approval Queue like a normal picture.

#3 - Manga/doujinshis: Hm, maybe an additional section under user galleries called "Mangas" or something which works kinda like fanfics. Better yet, it could probably be considered as a fanfic/story, i.e. "Stories" would then include both text fics and manga fics. Obvious difference between this and a regular fanfic would be that instead of an HTML file upload, there could be a dropdown list for the artist to pick a drawing from their gallery, all other management (add/remove chapters, comments, etc.) would be essentially the same. Overall rating for the manga could be determined from those of the pages themselves, existing comment system wouldn't need much adjustment to accommodate it, the pages themselves could still be shown/accessed under the categories listing, and so on.

#5 - Other art mediums, I dunno, I kinda think maybe we shouldn't go there? It's not always easy to identify if a WAV/MP3 or MIDI file is the user's composition or if they borrowed parts from other (official) sounds or songs. Similar thing for videos. And what about the filesize limit?

I agree with Sratarake on #5, some programs can be BIG! and vidieos are even bigger.
so i think it can take a toll on the servers, and there be no more room for the pics!

one suggestion I'd like to make:

perhaps a thumbnail view option on search results?
Kind of difficult if you remember the content of a picture, but not the name and have to search through the results for an hour+

just a thought ^^
