Is it just me or the recent picture pile is overally (word) better than half-year ago?
Not really, there's just like 2x as much of it.

I never post anything on the DA unless I'm absolutely positively sure I love it and it's ready, but I get no comments whatsoever. I mean, even flames would be appreciated, then I would know people were looking at it. And I *don't* copy. Sometimes it can be the sincerest form of flattery, but not when you copy others art or writing. Then it's plagerism.
I see at least one good thing per day. Maybe because I pick the things that I like and go through archives instead of going through the new pile. Most, if not all, isn't very good. The good artists seem to have retired. |

I have this one crappy Beatles pic that I drew like two years ago, and people still comment on it! The weakest drawing in my whole section and yet the most commented on.
I do't want to delete it though, cause it's the only group shot I have of the Beatles, plus I gave away the actual drawing so all I have left is the one on FAC. _________________ |

Mmm.... I think that color has a lot to do with it too. I still get comments on random pictures that I've done, but the colored ones get the most. |

It doesn't seem to matter if it's color or black and white (although rainbow line art seems to hold some odd attraction....), if it's an OC, I rarely get more than four comments in the first month and a half.
Even though I don't find a lot of amazing pieces on the recently added pages, I do like what I see. I believe, Rindi, that you mentioned in another thread that a lot of what's here is from people who haven't found their style yet. It's great that we have a site where people can post their earlier works and feel comfortable about it. |

Yeah, I guess this is a good place for up-and-coming artists. They get to connect with other people who share similar interests, and feel like their work is appreciated. Hopefully it inspires them to become even better artists, and to start branching out on their own. Sure, it's annoying to have to wade through all those uninteresting pictures, but hey, I think that's why we have the thumbnail browsing option.
And yeah, people really need to learn how to give/take constructive criticism, or at least learn how to type more than three words in a comment to form a reasonably intelligent-sounding sentence. People need brains.
Ah well. You can't have everything. |

One of the things I do when I'm wading through the recent pics is to find pictures that aren't the best in the world and give the people pointers. On one pic, I got ripped apart by other commenters for "being mean" and "not appreciating the time the artist spent working." People just don't get constructive criticism. |

Save the pic to your harddrive and then delete the FAC entry?
The only art of mine that ever gets commented on are my chibi ones. The worst art in my entire gallery, and people still comment on them the most. D: They were all like five minute doodles, too, a long time ago. _________________

I just ignore those. I loathe when people do something like that; it's something of a pet peeve, I suppose. |
