Sorry for bringing back a dead thread but how on earth is spinaltap on this list? Wasn't that just a fake band made for the movie? Neutral

Anyway Jimi (even though he isn't really hard rock) and Gnr should be closer to 1 Very Happy

Spinal Tap actually toured after the movie.

Megadeth
Thats fuckin' bollocks

Megadeth should be down way lower than that. Korn and Slayer beat them, they suck pretty hard. Its not my list, I know, but Megadeth should be like around the 30's or 20's at least.

That lists is useless >: (

It's VH1. Naturally, Zeppelin would be number one. I don't even think KISS deserves to be in the top 10.
At least Tool, Kings X, and Rage Against the Machine were up there.

Tool lower. Nirvana lower. Quite a few bands shouldn't of been on the list.

Why does this thread still live? Sad

It's telling that the only new lists VH1 has come up with have been "best body" "best celeb break up" and "best girlfriend/wife". They have officially crossed the line into worthless along with mtv.

Fuse is next. Beginning of the end...

I can't believe nobody said anything about Eric Clapton's band getting in the top 20. That's like putting Limp Bizkit in a top 100 rap groups at number 15. That would be stupid. Shit, I don't even think the Rolling Stones should be on that list. That ain't hard rock.

Stones have some pretty heavy shit for a Blues-Rock-Prog(for the time they came around) band.

Yeah for a blues rock prog. But not as a hard rock band. if anything, old school punk. Don't get me wrong I like the stones but they just don't belong up there with korn and led zeppilin and metallica and shit.

Old school punk? No.
They're hard rock.
Hard rock is a form of rock and roll music which finds its closest roots in early 1960s garage rock and psychedelic rock. It is typified by a heavy use of distorted electric guitar, bass guitar and drums. The term "hard rock" is often used as an umbrella term for genres such as punk, grunge, alternative metal and heavy metal, in order to distinguish them from softer, more radio friendly pop rock music.
I would throw the Stones in that category for being part of the roots of hard rock, just as the Beatles helped with pop rock.
Every time I see Korn mentioned like they belong on this list, let alone in the same thread as Led Zep and Sabbath, the baby Robert Plant Jesus cries. Sad

KISS is on the top ten ???

Aside from AC/DC THEY HAVE TO BE THE MOST OVERRATED BAND

(not the ac/dc's bad, but all of their songs sound the same)

Aside from their stage presence, I never saw that much in KISS. Spitting up blood is a cool trick, but it can't be healthy.

Well...having seen KISS at the height of their sad marketing...they're fun. I'll give them that. But fun in that "hear a song you know on the radio and sing along" kinda way. Poison blew them away in energy and stage presence even with minimal pyro and no confetti.

If I hear the "all AC/DC sounds the same" argument one more time, I'm gonna shoot myself. Or rather, the person who says it.
