Earned a black belt in Shoryn Ryu karate, and made it as far as green belt in Goju Ryu karate. Also studied kobudo at my old school - fighting with traditional weapons. Learned several kata for the bo staff and sai, but never made it to the tonfa or the bo-ken.

I dabbled a bit in jiu jitsu, Shotokan karate, and aikido through college PE classes, but never felt as comfortable with them as I did with my original styles. Aikido was the coolest out of the lot, but it freaking hurt! That's what happens when you have to learn by example. Someday, I'd like to try out wushu - it looks really pretty.
Tyler, wooden sword fighting is Kendo. xD;;; I like Karate but haven't tried Kung Fu style of fighting. :X So I suppose I choose karate.
No, no it isn't.

Kendo is a specific style. The wooden sword fighting I do is self taught.

No, it means I learn fight by fight. How to more efficiantly block attacks. How to come out of common situations with a tactical advantage. How to turn aside a weapon without exposing yourself to a hit. Learning to fight ambidextriously. Learn fighting punk. Grr!

My personal preferance is Karate. I mean, Both dish out the same amount of damage and are equally effective, its just that Kung fu has SOOOOO much showy stuff that's mainly their just to intimidate, and that's not going to do you any good if the guy your fighting turns out to be a flipp'in beserker. My personal style is a good combo of Ti-Kwan-Do, Hipekito, Jujitsu, wrestling/grappling, and my own invention of Ren-Ken-Jutsu.

I do Tae Kwon-Do, i love it because you learn really quickly and everything sticks in my head, plus you get to shout a lot. I would love to learn Kun fu though and Escarima and Karate...actually i would love to learn everything.
