After browsing around for awhile I've come to love the new layout. The only thing is with the advertisements so close to the navigation you could accidentally click it while trying to get into the forum or something, unless that was the point xD. It's awesome though, the recent pics feature rocks!

I like the new layout... I'm a glasses-wearer and the colours don't bug me at all.

In complete honesty, my friends saw me browsing FAC under it's old layout and thought it was a cheap porn site or advertisement hub or something to that extent. It was just too sterile and white and... blah...

No offense to the folks who designed the old layout, I just never really warmed up to it. The new one looks much more like an art site should look.

Stop saying that. I die a little every time the words "light" and "multi-colored" are mentioned in reference to the layout.

And the point is not that I have to see them, it's that I know other people will see them. The point of an art site is, after all, to display art to others. Knowing those others are looking at it on a bad layout isn't really comforting.

you must not understand how the multiple layouts are going to work...

any serious artist will use a dark color scheme, and the default color scheme is the dark one. so any visitors will see the art this way. anyone (like me) who isn't looking to be 'discovered' or not trying to showcase their work, and just want a nice little gallery for themselves, can use what they want. choose how they, themselves, view their own artwork. but every visitor will see the dark colors. and every serious artist will see the dark colors.

I do understand. It's that, regardless, people will be looking at the bad layouts. Unless it's programmed more like profile colors where only [i]their[/i] art is on the bad background, but I don't think that's what you're talking about, as it would be quite a useless feature.

I can look at my own art and a few other people's art matted nicely on my own shelf (aside from Cristina's printed and stuck up with push pins, must fix that and give it the glory it deserves Sad

). Don't need a website background for that. I don't post art to look at it myself, and knowing X idiots are seeing it on light grey pains my soul.

Y'all seem to be the ones missing the point. Let's use a hypothetical situation...

Let's say I'm having a gallery show. And all my work is hung up on the walls with the nice deep charcoal mattes and blank walls nicely spaced out to give each piece room without the others getting in the way. That's how I want it to be seen, that's how I'll see it.

Now, if someone walks in, whether they know anything about art or not, I don't want them to see the show with blue mattes with little hearts on them. That's not to say the skins would be so terrible, but you get the idea. The point of a gallery is to show the work to [i]other people[/i] and present it well, regardless of who they are. If they knew anything about art, there wouldn't be professionals who go to school to learn to hang gallery shows.

I'm saying this because it's what [i]I would like to see.[/i] Yeah, the new layout looks great. But if I clicked through the skins and saw the old blue and white as an option..."wtf were they thinking? pass...."

Obviously you can make all the Skittles Skins you want, just tossing what I think of it in. Apparently my opinions have become dirty words. Kinda proud of that.

The person who deisgned the old layout is the same one who designed the current one.

You think anyone who likes a colorful layout for an art site has no taste. You have no respect for such people. Therefore, why do you care if your art doesn't look as good to them? You already have no respect for their opinions.
