One thing I find funny is that Christian music stores promoted Evanescence for a while because they thought they were a Christian rock band
Amy Lee told them she wasn't interested, and it took them very short time to remove the posters and promotions, I find it funny how far people go for promoting a fad band just because they think they are of same religious faith. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Kate sent me a file once of the singer and guitarist doing an acoustic set in a radio station... she sung there and stuff and it sounded reaaally good. She did thier version of Heart Shaped Box.
I disagree when people say she can't sing. |

They are of the same religious faith. Hence, the mix-up. It's not a big deal. Amy Lee and the first guitarist are Christians, yet they didn't want their Christian elements of their music to be interpreted as "Christian rock n' roll". It was after Lee cleared it up, or so is my understanding, that the stores stopped advertising and selling their merch.
Could we get some recordings of that performance and other live performances? Might help settle the debate. |

I don't think "Do you like Evanescence" is a debate to be settled...

I never knew that one's personal interests were an open target for heated debating.
|
And as for the whole 'synthesized' thing, I actually enjoy some songs that are sung using a synthesizer.
Not what I meant by synthesized. Synthesizers are a valid tool, different than post production which is simply taking the tracks and altering the sounds, not to sound electronic (which is what synth does), but to sound like better singing than the subject can actually produce.
There's some interviews floating around from various artists at various times who weigh in on their feelings about over production. It used to be a musical sin to basically lie about one's skills. Samantha 7 declined to "fix" their frontman's singing so as not to disappoint live audiences. Def Leppard were accused of polishing their music in production but have since proved they just spent extra studio time capturing the perfect performance. Now it's just assumed that everyone lies and lets someone else fix their shortcomings? Ok. Let's all hire amazing artists to fix all the problems in our art for us before showing anyone too, it's all in the name of making things look good, right?
Please.
Blah blah blah no one is debating whether people should or shouldn't like them, it has nothing to do with liking them, anyone with any level of intelligence should be able to understand that, blah blah blah
EDIT: Oh, and Lee declined the christian store/station support because it's a death sentence for a band. It alienates people who may have otherwise been customers and doesn't gain much. POD were always a joke...in my experience. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
