Layz and squid, I'm not saying that the kid didn't derserve being beat for sure, I'm just saying that it is possible that the mother needs to be put away for good. As for beating in genral, I say go ahead. Just don't get carried away.

Don't you guys get it? The chances are, everyone's blowing discipline out of proportion because nowadays it's 'wrong' to hit your child (even when they really need to learn a lesson).
Someone sees a kid getting smacked and they immediately think it's abuse. You see a kid getting yelled at and dragged somewhere, abuse. It's called "I'm fed up with you being disrespectful and not listening to what I'm saying, so I'll instill a bit of fear into you so that maybe next time you'll think before you act."

Seriously, what are the chances that the mother is just beating her kid 'just because'?
Even people who abuse their kids usually aren't so stupid as to do it out in the open. Unless the kid's bruised and afraid of people/angry all the time, you have no reason to believe that they're being abused.

What I especially love is how Nilly (or her "sources") never said (or even saw, for that matter) what the kid was doing: Oh no! A loud little girl is getting punished! We're nosy and we didn't see the probably seriously bratty thing she did! Let's assume the parent is assaulting her!

But what if she was actually getting the head beat off her for no reason ???

It's impossible to really know what was truely goin' on, 'cause no matter what anyone says, People lie. Both parties involved could lie about the situation. And people viewing will also probably lie, most likely pushing it more in the childs or parents favour, depending on what they believe.

lol, I love how most people rallied around Layz. Laughing

*Sigh* Ass bruises= okay, Ass welts= pushing it, Blood= too far.
There, my view in a nut shell. IF the kid deserves it, put the fear into them with a couple of ass bruises. IF the kid really deserves it, put a welt on the ass. But if thier ass is BLEEDING, call special serveces and get the kid a real parent.
According to your story, the kid was getting bruises, possibly welts. Your Mom didn't see any bruises on the rest of her body? If she didn't, then either the mom was discipling her stupid kid, or the mom is smart. Pretty much, I'm saying it COULD be either way.

Why the hell did I even bother posting this...

And Carter, the only reason anyone would agree - despite the fact that's the truth >>;; - is because you're an admin and they'd be scared of getting their asses banned. True, I'm scared of getting my ass banned, but I am sick of people calling my mom that. Kids at my school call my mom that.

The reason my mom doesn't have a dayjob is because she recently had a bad surgery done on her knee - one of the followup nurses f*cked up the stitching and now Mom can hardly walk - and it's hard for her to walk now. We don't have enough money as it is, so she can't get another surgery.

So Carter, I am really sorry, but shut the f*ck up.

It's called an argument. Why the fuck would you ever side with someone who has the weaker point (or atleast presented it weaker)?

This whole thread is basically:
Nilly: My mom told me a dog took a bit shit on our lawn.
Layz: Did you see it?
Nilly: No. But people said it did.
Layz: Is it still there?
Nilly: No. But it pisses me off.
Layz: ...

You're telling me to shut the fuck up because i'm telling you that you shouldn't get upset over something you didn't even see?

That makes a whole load of sense.

Nilly, if you'll look back on the discussion, you'll see that you're the one continuously calling your mom lazy.

Thats like saying: "I'm not goin' to help my friend while them other 3 guys kick his ass, 'cause they're gonna win."

It's not about siding with anyone, people should have said how they feel on the matter [some did], instead of licking rim.

I've got kicked around by my mom and dad, I feel fine, not like there's any bruises, long-lasting mental damage, just more discipline.

I seriously don't care whether people think it's right or wrong. Most of this happen at home where people don't know about it.

EDIT: lol, @ people who think children can only learn from verbal instructions.

Its kind of silly sitting here and expressing opinions on something we really have no business in.

parents have the lawful right to hit their children under correct circumstances, and chances are if the mother was bold enough to do it in public it was probably provoked.

No. That's like saying i'm not gonna help a random person win an argument over the internet when she's obviously not thinking about what she's posting.

I just don't understand why, when confronted with the possibility that her mother may have made hasty judgement about what she saw, she has decided to try to rally sympathy for her mother's ailments - which are completely unrelated to the matter at hand.

My mom could beat your mom any day of the week in a not-being-able-to-walk contest Razz

This is exactly what what's-his-name was talking about years ago on CC Presents. People always see the screaming and miss the ten minutes of reasonable attempts at discussion.

I want a large
You're getting a small
but I want a large!
No, you're getting a small
I want a laaaaaarge
You're getting a small, then if you finish it, you can get another.
I WANT A LARGE
YOU'RE NOT GETTING A FUCKIN' LARGE!

And that's when Jim Bob walks in.

I mean christ, just the details in this story are ridiculous. Of course the kid's legs were flailing and she was screaming to let her go. That tends to be the reaction when one is being hit regardless of the reason. And especially in the car where children should be sedated with animal tranquilizers for the betterment of society.

People who abuse their children don't pull over in the middle of the road to beat their kid, they corner them in their room and beat the shit out of them good n' proper. A smack in the car when the kid's being a twat is nothing unusual. How many times does everyone hear "Don't make me pull this car over and come back there" when they're a kid.

Be angry at the people out there really doing horrible things. This is no better than the chicks who scream sexual harassment at every little thing and cheapen those who are in real danger.
