the people on the Fanfiction Critique panel should get badges for being dedicated enough to start something like that and spend time helping people improve with fic-writing.

maybe you could also make a sub section especially about FAC forums and have categories like

most respected user
most annoying user
best newbee/n00b/newcomer
biggest spammer
biggest butt kisser (for the politically correct ones always agreeing with mods)
best mod
worst mod
one day fly award (user that wasn't along for a while but did seem to make an impact on fac forums)

and ofcourse the fun awards earlier mentioned fit in well

antone got more ideas?

actually I think grissey has some good ideas here, not too many awards, and fairly balanced too.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add the biggest butt kisser award, I'll stop complaining for an entire week if you do Smile

Um i don't know, this is carters project, the rest are just helping out, but what i was thinking and gathering from it. It can be fun/funny and humorious in some parts to it. But i don't think she'll be wanting to many different awards, to many silly ones and such for more jokes. I'm sure she'll have them but we seem to be getting a lot of those now.

And almost anything is worth getting you to shut up for a week with teh complaining lexar, not sure though, Carters the boss on this one Cool

That is.. when a full team has been pulled together.. :)

And fallen i know it's gonna be hard to get people to nominate.. which is why i was thinking that we could set up.. a promotional team. Just a few people to pop by users profiles and such to let them know what's going on. Maybe create a banner for the awards... things like that ya know.

Ray check out the other fanart central awards post in the site helper/mod section. It has a bunch of stuff i did all featuring your cat. Seeing as how i figure it's kinda like a mascot for the site... why not really start to show off the mascot in this award thing...

I hereby state that I too would want to help out with the awards.

Before everybody instinctly denies my offer, think about it. I do know most of the people around here, and I offer a different point of view from most of the regulars (mods or members). And you know I'm serious enough to actually do something unlike some newb who just screams to help out, but is pretty much clueless.

As for as promotion goes, there are tons of ways to get people to get involved. Here are some of my ideas:
As far as advertising on the forums, you'd need give yourself some time cause action tends to be a little slow. Have your helpers use a banner in their sig temporarily, or recruit active posters to help out.
To grab the people on the main site who dont' do forums often, having a giant flashing GIF with big pretty letters on the main page will certainly catch people's eye. Maybe get some popular artists to draw promotional banners and stuff (I'd do that, though I'm not popular... lol) to upload or put in their profiles...
I'd say start advertising about a week or two before votes are set to go in?

Can you tell I'm into commercial art? Yeah, my dream is to open up an advertising company for small business. *dreamy eyes*

The people who don't visit the forums enough to know about the awards if it's going to be advertised at the forums too, wouldn't know who to vote for, so it's probably better to make this a forum only thing.

Lexar in case you havn't noticed it's for art as well. Best artist.. best realism artist... there are writing awards too. So it will be an entire site thing.

I'll get back to you on the help offer. Bad mood right now. I'm off for three days and heading to Seattle.

If you guys want to look at writing stuff, we're getting some awesome work in the critique panel (we haven't critiqued a lot of it yet, but it's still very good...)

There's an excellent Hellboy one shot and fanfiction in there, plus there's an original fiction that's very good.

Hope you have fun doing whatever you're doing in Seattle, Layz. Oh yeah, this is an awesome idea! It's gonna be so fun! o^.^o
