Their games are too different for an easy comparison.
Take, for example, their HP. Samus starts with a maximum of 99 HP (an average of 20-30 hits from low-level enemies), whereas Megaman X starts with... what, 20?
Not to mention damage reduction. Samus wins in this category too, because her various Suits (Varia, Gravity, Dark, Light) offer continually increasing degrees of damage reduction (50%, 75%, 80%). X, meanwhile, can only get 50% damage reduction with his armor upgrades.
Or their firepower. X has a wide array of weapons with varying effects, but they all have limited ammunition. Samus has only a few varieties of beam weapons, but all of them have unlimited ammunition. (Even the Light/Dark beams can still be used when out of ammo). Only Samus's missiles are limited in quantity.
Or in the water. X gets a boost to his jump height while underwater (and other possible benefits depending on his weapon systems), whereas Samus suffers a movement and juping penalty while underwater. Even with her Gravity suit, Samus still only has normal movement and jumping while underwater.
Or for jumping and movement: Both X and Samus can jump from walls (though X's wall-hug ability is superior). X has a dash ability (on ground and/or mid-air); Samus gets a double-jump (Space Boots) and a continuous mid-air jump as well (Space Boots+Screw Attack). X can dash through some small openings; Samus has her morph ball for that, and she uses it extensively.
Or, environmental interaction. If Samus falls onto a dangerous surface such as spikes or lava, she takes damage. X ... gets killed outright. Which brings to mind: X gets a certain number of lives/ressurections in Megaman games, but Samus doesn't. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
