I'm a newbie with the Japanese J-rock bands so bear with me. How I was I supposed to know that? He looks so feminine I couldn't tell O_o
You never see him dressed in guy clothes, even in the fanart I've seen here. I just figured it was a girl XD;;
Haha, I know. I thought he was a girl too, when my friend introduced me to Malice Mizer. I dun think I've ever seen a real picture of him in male clothes either, so he's as good as a woman.
What the hell...?
Aha! I've found one of the pics I was talking about. I'm afraid to look for more after this. Plus, I found a dreadful thing by usagi, but everyone expects that form her. D:
Something much, much better to look at.
But this pic makes up for the horrible-ness of that one. I know we're not supposed to post good art, but I thought you might want to cleanse your eyes. There're little things wrong with it, but it proves that good anime HP can be found.
?_?
On another note, WTF is this doing in the HP section? I don't recall a 'Rachel Lupin', and I dun know who that fat guy is. They have an OC category, USE IT! I would volunteer to help clean this mess up, if I were allowed. Gets on my nerves.... |

Ho snap, now not only has Kratosgirl14 brutally murdered her pics with Photoshop in the past but now she's moved onto Paint Shop TT TT
Wait...maybe I'm thinking about PaintShop Pro, either way, it's as ugly and if not worse than the rest of her stuff.
Considering my main two cg programs are PSP and oC, that makes me cry on the inside. :(
I don't dare go into the HP fanart section. Ever. :<
Also, WTF. Since when did poorly done "calligraphy" made by someone who has no experience with asian languages qualify as fanart?
T_T Calligraphy is an art, too, and that girl's raped it beyond belief... T_T _________________

You can buy shirts that say "white people can't read this" in Chinese.
Completely irrelevant to the gaff thread as a whole, but appropriate for the subject at hand. _________________

this one makes me suspicious with the D.N. Angel Logo in the bottom corner Oo
No, I've seen this artist before. It's her own artwork.
Here's her dA account. It's just a little odd to find someone so good on FAC. 8D
As for this one, I don't think it's GA at all. They just need to DL a better coloring program. :/ Otherwise, it's a nice pic. _________________ FAC |

More fun with the pics of the hour!
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-295449.html
The artist admits that she naturally draws her characters skinny and tall, but that's no excuse for a complete non-comprehension of proportions.

I... don't know what to say. Funny how it didn't garner any comments until it randomly showed up as pic of the hour today. It's been on the site for well over a year too.
As for the other two pictures of the hour... Well, one was a copy straight out of the Naruto manga, and the other was one of mine. ^^; |

And funny how three of four so far of them congratulate the person on the "pic of the hour".
I swear, everytime I read "congrats on pic of the hour" or some form of that, I feel a vile and complete hatred for each person saying that for like...5 seconds, and then it goes away and I suddenly stop caring.
But it's there....oh, it's there. |

Hahahaha! Serious.....poor, poor, POOR Itachi & Sasuke!!
There's tall and skinny, and there's totally out of proportion.... |

Those who can't do, teach.
...And make complete asses of themselves it would seem. In this situation, at least. _________________
If you can't do as well or better, you'd better not be going around telling me that I'm doing it *wrong*
And I'm a firm believer in the opposite.
Just because someone can't do it, doesn't mean they can't see it. If an eye is too low, it's too low, regardless of it the person saying it could do it better.
The "I'd like to see you do better" defense [for anything] is rather pathetic. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

It's more circumstantial for me, I suppose, then. I've never gotten any critiquing I could use, ever. Most of the people on FAC are content to stroke my metaphorical cock, anyway. As for people I know IRL, none of them have really helped, either. All I've gotten in way of that sort of thing is conversations like:
Friend: You know her, boobs are saggy.
Me: Well, they're supposed to be. She's a mermaid; they don't wear bras.
Friend: ...I still think they're saggy.
Yes, that's the point. -__-; Men. Too much Disney for some people, apparently. But I suppose the reason why I've shaped that view is because of my past experiences with stuff like this. I hardly think that someone who does half assed Inuyasha drawings is in any position to tell me how I should be drawing. If they can tell me that the eyes are too low, then why should they be blind to their own work? Doesn't seem very credential to me.
Since I do anime styled stuff, the location of the eyes hardly matters with all the stuff I've seen. Eyes the size of their fucking hands... :/ The style itself doesn't lend itself very well to any decent proportioning, anyway, with all the sh*tty artwork I've seen published. Although I can certainly see how it would affect the work if I were doing something like your work. A bit of egocentrism on my part, I suppose. _________________

I agree with Fallen. And even if they can see it for themselves in their own work, doesn't necessarily mean they possess the skill to perfect it. I mean, I could very well point out an anatomical flaw in someone's artwork that I myself do all the time, it doesn't mean I don't acknowledge that I don't have the same issue or anything...
I royally suck at drawing hands, and I'm aware of it XD but I wouldn't let my own handicap stop me from trying to help someone else with the same problem as myself.
But then again, I do see your point. Considering the...uhm, average skill level on FAC. But then again, it seems like most of the people on here that post artwork really regularily (that have the time to) are pretty young, and it's just a hobby for them, so I doubt they'd take critiques or something really seriously anyway... |

Yes, but are they at least trying to work on it? All too often I see people (not only on FAC) who tell you to fix something, but get all defensive when you try to help them with their work, too. I've heard the, "I'm not Da Vinci; it doesn't need to be perfect so stop telling me what to do" thing all the time. :/// But then they'll go off and tell you that the boobs on your mermaid are saggy. 8D
:]
I love people.
Maybe it's not so much that I have a thing against people who crit other people's work while being mediocre in themselves, but more against people who hold double standards and think that the rules don't apply to them. :/ _________________

You hit the nail on it's head there!
If you criticize other people's work on a regular base, and you can't cope with people critizing yours..... That doesn't make sense....and maybe that makes you worser than all the 13-year olds with paint around here... I find it really annoying if people hold these double standards, whether they are the best thing at FC.net or not... |
