My pet peeve?
right now T.T titles that start with punctuations (like "! A girl !" or "~* Yugi *~")
You know they're just doing it so their picture gets to the top of the list (in categories)
Problem is, so many of them do it, that the lists just get scrambled up.
Another crazy idea . . . what if the approval members had clearance to edit a picture's title for approval (namely, to eliminate stupid tricks like that) . . . .
There was one artist, who was it, cherrybubblegum or something? Her first few drawings always had *cough* this and *cough* that in the title, and after seeing that a few times I put a comment on one to the tune of " *hands her a cough drop and some water* There, you can stop your coughing now...." _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I couldn't agree more. And we see a lot of really bad 'exact' copies of dbz too.
The last example was pretty sweet btw, I noticed it too a couple of days ago |

That'd be nice, actually o.o but then again, if someone pissed one of them off n.n lol they could rename it "some piece of crap"
lol of course whether that's a pro or a con is sorta individual opinion lol
and thanks, Lexar n.n

I appreciate critisism..... but not when it's on like every pic of mine...and especially older stuff. Oh and when the person who is critisizing sucks azz themselves. _________________ |

ESPECIALLY when they criticize on the older stuff...
In fact, I'm also not to keen even when it's a good comment about the picture...when it's obvious your style has changed and improved dramatically, it's almost a let down when all they'll comment on is the old stuff you almost don't care about anymore....>.< |

Was there one person running around critting everyone's old stuff, 'cause someone did that to me yesterday, too. Very irritating. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Dunno.. I looked at ur pics and don't see the dudes name who commented on all of mine.. I deleted a couple of his comments cuz i was just getting annoyed. Especially since everything he critisized, I've already realized the things I need to fix. Usually when I do a pic I get help from Dabear or from other at deviantart. I ask people with talent. Not some kid who draws like stick men. I don't really CC other peopls work. Mainly because I don't think anything I do is good enough.. I have tons of things to improve on so how can I write big old paragraphs discussing in detail how they need to change their work.
So yeah people.. critisizing others work is fine. If you do so on a few of their pics, their newer pics. Not if you go to 20 of their pictures and leave paragraphs about things that are bad about the pictures. Also, instead of wasting your time leaving these paragraphs in peoples galleries , try working on improving your own stuff..

I deleted the entire picture last night. Crits in general bother me unless I ask for it. 99 times out of 100 I already noticed the issue and just don't feel like messing with it 'cause I'm bored with the picture. And unless it's for a specific purpose (contest, gift, whatever), I never go back and fix it anyway.
Some people seem to think that means I have an ego problem or whatever, but being criticized about shit I already noticed isn't helpful anyway. 'Specially on something that was done 4 years ago. <_< _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Oh god, I know.
I think when I get my personal site up, I'm going to keep my FAC gallery with just mostly updated stuff, you know? That way I can get the criticism for stuff that I need to improve currently
I don't like it when galleries have like 100's of pictures anyway. Especially if they DO have a website T.T;;;; |

I don't mind galleries with a lot of stuff as long as it's good. If they have 20 high quality finished things and 180 quickies, that's incredibly annoying. DA made that issue a little better with the scraps section, so people can put quickies or WIPs in there instead of cluttering up gallery space, but most people who post tons of doodles don't use it.
But if they have a couple hundred really good things, I like that. There's a few people on my DA watch list who are insanely productive. Overall though, doodles are better left on a personal space where they don't overwhelm everyone else's stuff. The 3 upload a day limit here (besides keeping the AP list down) gives everyone a fair chance to be noticed. It drives me crazy on DA to submit something and twenty minutes later some kid has uploaded 30 "OMG I drew INUYASHA in MATH!!!!! ^____^" pictures to the same section. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. hoo haa that made me giggle Fallen anyways yes i am probably about to state something that someone else has but oh well
1) First i CANNOT STAND!!!! absolutely CANNOT STAND people that have a whole gallery full of suicide in their gallerys. just makes me want to flame them to hell and beyond I mean its ok to draw a "suicide" picture here and there when we are depressed or in a pissy mood, God knows we have all most likey drew at least one of those kind a pictures but SERIOUSLY! No one likes to go look into a gallery and see DEATH AND DEATH..............and DEATH everywhere, it gets u pissy or sad urself.
2) I hate people that will like post random s**t..........like a crappy little doodle that they did on the back of their english homework on lined paper and its a freaky chibi saying something idiotic like "I HEART TEH CHEESE" <_< _________________ I'm just a simple MEGGY MAE. |

My issue with "dark" pictures is this. So many people find "dark" things interesting, fun, cool, whatever. Just look at Hot Topic. A whole color scheme of black and red. The "nu-goth" thing is all the rage, and on some level I can understand that perhaps the "life sux so much!" attitude is easier for them to relate to than happy-go-lucky rainbows and sunshine.
The problem is it's all the equivalent of bad poetry. It says a lot and means nothing. Look at 99% of teen poetry, and it's a bunch of metaphors and images that sound good, but when really compared to talented poetry it's shallow crap. The metaphors are very simple and don't mean much besides the basic "oh, the bloody knife is a symbol of his betrayal...I see." But when you look at something like The Raven or The Road Not Taken, there's so many levels and careful word choice in those poems you could study them forever.
Back to "dark" art, it's all superficial. No thought is put into why. Some fishnets, baggy black pants, and scars on the forearms and it's supposedly some "deep" masterpiece, but what does it mean? Nothing. Some little symbol of inner pain and suffering, perhaps, but isn't there a better way of portraying that than one that's been done a hundred times before? (often a hundred times before by the same artist) It's not so much the subject matter that annoys me, it's the weird sense of "respect" or "this is better than those happy pictures because it's deeper". Typical dark art is no deeper than the people who draw happy little fairies on mushrooms. They express different emotions in the same shallow manner.

Okay this just f'n pisses me off!!! When people draw original characters & make them rated R. For crying out loud D@$#%T have some f'n respect. Just because their your characters that doesn't mean you should f'n expose them. See, I'm so very attached to all my characters that I would be so ashamed to even think of exposing them in such a f'n way! RESPECT!!! For crying out loud twice I don't really mind seeing two characters from official srt go at it. But that's bcause the artists make them so D@#$ hot! But still how can you people do such a thing to your own creations. AND THIS GOES OUT TO LASHER. I JUST LOVE YOUR F'N ATTITUDE!!! PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU! |

Meh, it's their character. If they invented them to be smut bunnies... *shrug* I think it's worse when they take someone else's characters (official) and put them in situations that aren't true to the original. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Fallen, once again you've put my jumbled angry feelings about something into perfect, clear wording.
n.n and so is why I love you lol
as for the crazy rant about original characters o.o *shrugs* some people just like to do that.
If you're talking about "original characters" as in "this is me if I was in Inu Yasha" (ah, a common scenario) then yeah.....that's just "I wish I could dress like this or be some random ho but my mom won't let me"
T.T
Like....I'm not going to name any names, but there are quite a few girls on this site who post "I'm an E cup!!" and dress themselves in jeans and bikini tops.
that's just disrespectful (and a topic for a different forum lol) |

I'm sorta known for doing an occasional "hit & run" critique . . . usually on the most recent works since I surf that more than anything else. And while some of my critiques can redefine the word "long", virtually all of them have been appreciated.
I can't say from experience whether I adjust my critiques based on what the sketch is (new/old, WIP/final, etc.) but that's a point I want to strive for. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
