I should have said the bubblegum pop boy/girl bands, to be more specific. Those erupted in the 90s. I still bother my cousin about being a Backstreet Boys fanatic back then(thank God she moved on to Audioslave and Nirvana).

Bret Michaels has been working on country music for a long time. Lord knows he's had the accent long enough (dude's from Pennsylvania, come on now...that ain't right). I don't buy those records, but all the power to him for doin' what he wants. He's not a traitor to hair metal for it. Long as he still puts on the tight pants when May rolls around, he can do whatever he wants.

Britney and Christina have been having attendance issues as of late. Their fanbase is growing up, and this new young group of potential fans is more into Eminem and Good Charlotte. Aww, poor girls who have no true musical talents....

Foo Fighters(punk)

There are others that are "punk pop" that are basically sh*tty musicians(Avril, Three Days Grace, Good Charlotte, etc.) but we won't count them.

If those people listen to Ramones and Sex Pistols, they're at least getting the original punk artists. Might be they have finally admitted that all new punk bands nowadays are s**t.

I listed the only ones I thought were worth checking out and listen to. Grunge is punk, but a more raw influenced area of it. No sh*tty keyboards.

Yes, but being as those are two of the most well known, it's all the more hilarious when kids say how much they love punk music and haven't even heard of them.

Let's see, about a year ago I would've came here and started bitching like mad, because I'm a weirdo like that. The bands you are saying "aren't punk" or "their lyke posers" or ect. Nowadays my life has gone so much down the drain I don't give a flying f**k.

But what I do want to say is like what you like and be who you are, because if your not your just a shadow. I do admit, I owe my life to Good Charlotte ( on many occasions ) you might say 'music can't save you' but it did save me. I'm not complaining or saying things like "anyone who says GC are posers sux!" because A. I don't use "sux" and B. I just wouldn't say that.

I think Good Charlotte can be whatever the f**k they wanna be, so can Simple Plan, Sex Pistols and anyone else. I admit Avril did make a lot of really good songs. So I admit I am sort of a Avril fan. Sort of. But if anyone says their not punk or their posers, let's see you say it to their face and pull back with your life. Screaming raging fans would tare you to pieces, because fans love their bands and they believe in what they believe in. Whether you like it or not, their will always be someone who disagrees.

You owe your life to Good Charlotte? I owe mine to Nirvana because Kurt really did kill himself just like he said he would instead of singing about it and living to be an old, rich, bastard.

It's ok if you owe your life to them, but my opinion is this: to owe ones life to a band is to watch one of the band members go through Hell and finally end their life. Do you want to go the way they did? Do you want to go by your own hands?

I should hope not.

As for GC being posers, it's pretty much a fact, but I will respect your opinion.

Avril is a flat out poser. She was playing country before she went "punk" and only after she heard Nirvana's Greatest Hits album did she pick up the Tele and start this new fad that has teenage girls and boys trying to look and act like her.

Good Charlotte was in a weird wave of posers after Avril came out. I never understood it because I was listening to RATM, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Gn'R, Ramones..... and I couldn't care less about them or Avril.

I have very litte sympathy for those who write depressing lyrics, make a few million bucks, say in interviews that they're the luckiest guys in the world, and then continue to write depressing lyrics.

It's just the way I am. I don't live in my "own little world". I live a basic life in the outskirts of Charleston where the bars are plentiful and the bands are strong.

Now if only our drummer would get off his ass and buy some freaking drums.

You know what's really damn annoying? People acting like they're a member of their favorite band. If someone says ____ is a poseur or a no talent loser or a fuckin' homo or whatever, it's not about you. It's about them, and a lot of times it's true. I don't care if you hate them, like them, or wanna suck their balls until you die, it's still true.

Now then, everything that's already been said about current pop punk is true. It just is. You can dislike it all you want, but it's still true. And we don't care if you like them or if one of them saved you from a sinking ship. If we were having a discussion about how 80s glam metal had a really loud image and in most cases not stunning musicianship, hell that's true. But I like it. If someone's trying to tell me I can't like it because of that, they can suck my metaphorical dick. But no one's saying you can't like pop punk because they're poseurs. And we're not saying poseur makes them a shitty band.

But they're not punk. It's not an insult, just true.

If I was a member of my favorite band, I'd be out of a job. Goddamn you de la Rocha.

This might be stupid, we'll see, but if I cared about the band, I would tell them to their faces that they're losing it and have become terrible, and rest assured, I would walk away alive. Not because I beat them up(they have guns), but because they wouldn't want to. But since I don't like GC or Avril or 3 Days Grace, I'll leave them alone because I don't want to help them.

Fallen, since some of what you wrote applied to me, I'll try to be more mindful.

If I was a member of my favorite band... I'd be wondering where my damn royalty checks were and talking shit about Axl like everyone else... Well one of them. I picked Guns since otherwise most positions in my other favorite bands are filled by someone more talented than me. Damn.

Defend people where they deserve it, I ain't sayin' you can't stand up for your favorites, but when people treat it like a personal insult it just looks stupid. It's the exact same issue I need to go put on the pet peeves thread about people who meet an artist once and think their entire personality is reflected in that thirty second period of time.

Maybe people with more functional bands have a harder time, but all my favorites are or have been so fucked up if I treated everything negative about them as a personal insult, I'd be a very unhappy individual. And there are people like that, and I hate them too. There's fans of my favorite groups I can't stand at all. The ones who make excuses for everything and refuse to admit one negative aspect of them. Axl calls off Rock in Rio even though he was still left with two guitarists and had three months to find another, there's nutswingers out there going "well he just wants the best, and three months isn't enough time to find a guitarist who knows the material perfectly." Or working on Chinese Democracy for a DECADE "he just wants it to be perfect". We've heard the songs. It's not Appetite For Destruction all over again. Just get it out there already.

If someone was criticizing a group for having no talent or something, sure I'd defend them from that and back it up with evidence to the contrary. But things that are true....just admit it and move on.
