Hmmm, rap. I do not like it one bit. But I will refrain form bashing it in anyway...
Rap is not my favorite genre due to it's constant degration of females and it's awful lyrics. Rap has no purpose really, in my opinion. I feel that Genres such as Metal and Classical release different emotions. Metal releases a negative emotion, which helps us to become more controlled if we become upset. We would be controlled because our emotions would be spent while we were listening to the music.
Classical tends to release a more open rage of emotions.
Rap does no release anything. I asked my friend (who loves rap) what type of emotion rap helps to control. She paused for a while and quietly said "Sexual tension?"

Music can have many effects on the human mind and body, but some listen to music for the pure enjoyment of it.

My darlings, I have just given my opinion on rap. I still do not find rap appealing, but I do not hold respect for you people who worship rap and believe they are "Gangsta"

Slipknot are basically commercial music, who would change their style of music so their fans would still pay a shit load of money for tickets.

Rap is basically some people quoting texts with a background beat, generated with computers and that type of shit.

Slipknot fucking rock. Changes thier music? Uh, no? They've been near enough the same since Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat and that's even through transition of band members. Maybe they've gotten more tuneful but damn, the spirit of Slipknot is always there. You hear a song and you know if it's Slipknot or not.

Rap is good, it is only good when done right. Which is rare in most cases. I hate todays rap, I like some Nu-metal(which is rap and metal I think). I also like stuff like Beastie Boys, which included rap with rock.
