Okay, so while at China vacationing, I flipped through an issue of some manga-focused magazine, and I found a chapter of a story that I found to be real interesting, but searching for what I knew about it on Google and the internet has prooved completley hopeless!
If anyone has heard anything about this doujinshi, or knows anything about it, tell me where I can get some info, 'cuz I really like this doujin!

Okay, so I'm not sure if the translation's correct or not [it was in chinese, see... translated though I think...] but the title should be 'Pupil'.
There's a main character there, with a name somewhat like 'Michael' I believe if translated by sound from chinese to english, though doesn't seem quite right... also nicknamed Mike, apparently...
There is another character with an english name, KAVANA [caps in the manga, so I'm following it] and a coupla other minors with names I didn't catch.
The plotline had something to do with Michael [an american] landing on an island somewhere on a mission to find a 'mystery man', and here he stumbles upon KAVANA and his pals. KAVANA though apparently knows where this hidden man is, and is helping him keep hidden. He also has a sister/brother [I honestly can't tell for sure, depending on the translation] and a whole gang of people that help him.
The setting is in some remote jungle or whatnot, and all I know is that there's buddhism there as they'd showed it in a few panels.

What struck me about this doujinshi was its remarkably familiar art style that looked quite like Angel Sanctuary, though I couldn't find the name of the manga-ka and didn't know if it was Kaori Yuki [art and story of Angel Sanctuary] at all;
The [larger] eyes, nose style from directly in front, formation of faces, long bodies, and in particular the hands were all just about exactly like K. Yuki's style, so it really made me wonder.
However, there were still some differences with eye style, with thin long mouths and noses at a side-profile, as well as a few minor things in the body structure [legs] and whatnot...
I think what gets me is that the art is, page-by-page, prettier than the artwork that's in the Angel Sanctuary manga. Now, I'm not saying AS art is bad, as I love it, but as you have to rush to finish a manga, I understand that not every panel will look like perfection. However, it really looked different between K.Yuki's manga-style in the 'Pupil' doujin than in the AS manga...
Then again, I haven't read much of AS [only up to book 2] so I don't know whether or not K.Yuki's improved by then, as I know AS goes pretty far, right?
So it doesn't quite make me feel like this is Kaori Yuki's work... however, the styles are still so similar, and certain pics just send me into retrospective, as they really, really, really remind me of the artwork.

So, if anyone can help me find out what and where this doujin are, or even just some sites where I might be able to look up misc. doujin like this, I'd be really thankful. Smile

Hmm~ Did you try looking on some Japanese sites? (kanji for doujinshi is 「同人誌」)

Oh. ^^; I was thinking that if you could find more information about it like the circle that did it, you might've been able to find a site in english with it. :O I know that some sites have them arranged by genre > circle, so... :O

Sorry I can't help more. ^^;

[size=9]I managed to get entire scan/actual manga of one artist I really liked, through mail order, secret under-the-desk deals with some Brazilian pedophile, and bittorenting. 8D I'm actually proud of myself for accomplishing that without being in the country, not speaking the language, and being unable to legally own the material. Twisted Evil

one word: do everything you can, search everything you can, there are some doujinshi sites like Mandarake and JpQueen you can look around. The shipping is horrendous but if you really want it, go for it.

Oh. Well, I just really, really want to know who made it. It just reminds me so much of that one artist...
Could you give me a list of good places? I really don't know much. :/

It was published in a chinese [laugh] manga magazine. I don't know, but another doujin was actually done by a [b]Chinese[/b] artist, so there's a small percent chance the person was chinese.... ...but that's just about impossible. The style, and... O_o
Plus, not to insult the chinese, but, uh, they don't draw... THAT good. There's a style to the chinese doujin/manga, and it's not anything like the art of 'Pupil'. [/b]
