The Best Artist On Fac?

His name is Atlas. He has just one pic in his gallery here on FAC. And it's amazing. I think he used HB#2 pencil, basic. But then again, I really don't know if he drew it in the first place. But someone did. Does anyone know anything about this guy Atlas? I posted his pic, i didn't want to at first because it's not my work. But then I thought that maybe noone would click a link. This has got to be one of the best pieces I have ever seen.

to be honest, and no disrespect, I don't like Seifer-Sama's work. The reason may be in part because i'm not all that fond of anime at all. But fallen is much better in my opinion. But then again, [i]that[/i] may be because I love portraits and realism. So noone knows a thing about Atlas, huh? atleast comment on the pic!

Good pic, I remember the name of the artist from somewhere but can't put my finger on it.
I like Seifer-sama but not one of my all timers on this site. It varies to each section of artwork really, e.g. BeastOfOblivion (sorry if i spelt it wrong) is 1 of my fav's in the fantasy sections but I'm quite a big fan of Orin (even though she ain't posted the fantasy art on this site).

Have't seen the picture before (on DA, etc). Looks like HB-4B pencils, if not charcoal. Those blacks would be rather abusive to the paper to get with regular #2.

Wow. That picture is breathtaking. I mean the way he drew the armor and the shading, its just amazing. Truly one of the best on this site. Smile

I think it would be very hard to decide who is really the best artist on FAC because everyone has such different preferences. For example, people who are more interested in anime tend to love Siefer-sama's work because she is the best in the anime section but others would argue that fallen is the best because they prefer realism and portrait drawing.

I think its not about who's the best artist period but more of who is the best in each section. It makes everything a little simpiler in my opinion. Smile

wow is this site bogging down lately. I wanted to go to my profile where I have some excellent realism artists pictures saved in favs, but I couldnt get to it. anyway a couple that I respect that come to mind are Lombi and FallenAngel, and an excellent fantasy artist Diathene (Naomi). Im a North American style cartoon artist. never been impressed with anime, but respect it. DG-Sama is excellent in anime. another artist that has done the change from anime to realism, LazyCarter, is excellent, and Amy (I cant remember her FAC handle) is an excellent pixel artist.

since I do comics (the bottom feeders of art - my little joke) I dont really get impressed by many comic artists. shading is what turns me on, when a comic artist shows excellence in the trade. Drew Gardner (I hope I spelled that right) is excellent when it comes to his shading technique, and thats about all I can recall for names right now.

its a shame cause I remember some pictures (not the titles) but not the artists names. one that comes to mind was a rendition of the actors and actress from the show that had Scully on it.

Sixx, sorry, I didn't mean that this guy was the best on FAC, I just titled this "the best of FAC" to get peoples attention. And besides, I made it a question, not a statement. I agree, ONE of the best. You're right, you can't compare realism with cartoon or comic artwork.

in my opinion, there can never be a 'best artist'. Every person has different personal tastes when it comes to art. One artist may have detailed artwork, but thier art may appear to be nothing special in one person's eyes, while in another person that artist may be the best. At least that is my point of view xD

wow, that peice by atlas definitely the work of a pro.^^ well, sorry, I can't choose just one artist I like. I'm into CGs, but I would say that seifer-sama is 1 of my favorites. it's not much the fact that she draws anime that draws my attention to her, but what she can do with colored pencils. also have to that,well, I just put a list of my favorite artist. don't worry it's not long. XD

The pic of Xena is really good. Almost real. I agree that you can't really say who is tha best. I'm a fan of the manga/anime style, but not so much of fantasy. The pictures these people draw are amazing, like all those dragons. It's just wow, and than there's the use of pencils wich is amazing as well.
It's just a matter of taste really. Your very lucky if a lot of people like your art.

I don't have a favorite yet. I haven't been very long on this site, so I haven't found one yet. I do like Kathy001, but I've seen her art in deviantart. So that doesn't count ^_^;;

no, not everyone, I don't think she's the best, she's very talented though, nice art, but no, there is no best artist, everyone is good in their own way, people need to improve, but if you want them too, don't take the harsh way for it, but there are [b][u]good[/u][/b] artists, like beastofoblivion she has a great imagination, you all know that, yeah a very swell artist. there are other artists I could name, but I got no time.

While I naturally cannot disagree that the picture is quite incredible, I feel it should also be said that it seems to be copy directly from a picture of Zelda? I know my work is much better when I copy straight off pictures, but I haven't done so in some time. People who draw original pictures just from their minds or with a little reference gain much more of my respect than people who copy what's already out there. It's not really worth anything to reproduce a picture that exists- except for practice. Just my opinion on the subject.

So talent and skill take you nowhere? It's not about copying something that's done for you already. That's what most anime is, the same pictures over and over. Same eyes, hair, colors, and especially technique. A picture of Lucy Lawless doesn't look like any picture of Brad Pitt. But a picture of X anime character is the same as a picture of Y anime character, save for the hair colors and outfit. To tell you the truth, after all these years of this anime overload, I still don't know a single characters name, and my neices and newphews watch that stuff all the time. I only like (used to anyway) Yugi O. Because I liked the idea of the show.
