Hay all

figured that i would see who knows karate of some sort and all that sort of junk. i have been in cherri-roo for like ten years and the highest belt color you can get in it is the black belt. I was brown one step below. All i needed was one more stripe and i could of been a black belt........sigh....... oh well. But lets just say that i know how to punch right and use the force of my body to make them more powerful if i ever need to get into a fight.

Not to mention that weapons count in this topic. I like the bow(huge stick like what donatello had in teenage mutant ninja turtles) the double sticks i forget the word. But there is one in each hand and its like dual weilding(my absolute fav.... Very Happy ). there are others like the nunchuks/sie's/wooden swords/the botoon/etc.

thanks to all who post catch you later

I currently take Karate lessons..... It's a bit boring but since we're not a lot on the group... The teacher picks on me for fun.

ah yes the good old teacher making fun of the student. ah how that brings back memories. he used to love to pick on me but i didn't care it was fun. and when i got up to my higher belt i even got to lead the class. in training in the punches and kicks. then the warm ups and stuff it was fun. i was honored that my sensai had faith in me to lead the class in the begining stuff.

I was the one who started the routine that they run in a huge circle and they punch and kick the bag stuff. It was a fun thing to do but everyone hated me for creating it. my sensai still uses it today. but i'm not sure if im the first to use it though....

Why take both Judo and Jujitsu? Isn't Judo just a watered down Jujitsu made for sport?

Me and my bro took some sessions with our dad on Karate since he's a black belt but we got bored with it and soon gave up. It was a year ago. Then we installed a punching bag in our garage and I practiced boxing and Kung-Fu Iron Palm(or was it Fist?), self-taught. Then I started to strenghten myself by getting my mates to hit me everywhere(literally everywhere), and I got used to it, and I run around in our backyard 45 minutes a day and do weight-lifting 3 times a week. It pays to have endurance, you know.

Err...I think that's it. There are still bruises on my body, mind you

Well at my karate, I sometime take care of the warmup. It's kinda fun to have the whole group following you. ^_^ When I said the teacher picks on me, he makes me do puch ups (I hate doing those) and sit ups (no problem for that) but it's kinda annoying to always be stuck doing it because your friend makes you laugh and you're the only on who has to do it. . . . .

That is exactly what i mean my sensai made me do that kind of stuff all the time. i always hated it when he would make me take care of the youngins. in other words the 5 year old kids or so. they would always try but fail horribly. However it was fun to see them kick so hard that they actually fall down..... Surprised Very Happy Laughing Smile Grr! this is basically the faces i made when they would do that. but non the less it was like training my own little army. it was fun do push up my little chickadee's mwahahahahahahaha. faster..... ^_^

Well it depends if you want it to be thougher or just to be able to defend, if you want to attack and all sort of things. My friend for example, does Shaolin, it's very hard physically and she's built very though now. Me, I do Shotokan Karate and it's move defensive than offensive (Even if I wanted the opposite though but it was the only kind I could find around teh neibor)

I did cherii-roo. which is called the way of the empty hand. We always practiced different varietys of stuff. we are equal on attack and defense. ususally it is just how you like it.

there were ways of blocking like the swim block that ends up leaving opponent defenseless after his attack. We learned presure points that could be dangerous and non-dangerous. Other blocks that we used would mainly just stop there attack and leave them open for attack.

Our attacks varied from regular punches to harder hitting punches like the sun fist and my favorite the palm attacks. i think that my palm attacks are more lethal then the regular ones.

We learned how to use strangle hold like in wrestling but we don't use those often. My sensai always said to use our body weight in our attack. because it would make them stronger. it actually does too. but that's all for now

But for the most part. (the best fight is no fight). quote from my sensai.

as for your question, i think you should try the closest one to you. if your in a city and can do basically anything try out all the ones you can and see which one you like the best and do that one. Like me and keautye we had no choice there was only one in the neigborhood. Most dojo's let you have a free trail run anyway.
