Steven King is one of my favorite authors when it comes to reading the horror genre. He just seems to have perfected the art of ultimate fear in the human mind and soul. I have read almost all of his books and I'm curious now. Which book do you think was Mr. King's scariest? I know some of the books in this list are not really scary but everyone has an opinion I guess. Also, if you can give a reason as to why you voted the way you did then that would be really great.
I personally find that Pet Semetary was the scariest of his books. If not then it was certainly his most disturbing and a book where he finally may have went too far. The way he portrays the values of life and de@th is very provocative yet errie. Also I have never read a book where possibly anything could happen but that was what Pet Semetary was. Mr. King was not afraid to tear at our innermost fears and expose them when writing this book. I am not afraid to say that this was the only book of Mr. King's that made me cry a few days after I read it just from pondering on the subject matter and really trying to contemplate the matters of life, de@th, good and absolute evil. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Nope. Because its the a poll between the worst (meaning his scariest book) among the his best books (which are very scary.) It made sense in my head.
And to think that for five seconds I thought that maybe I wasn't the only Stephen King fan here but nope. You got me all excited over nothing. Thanks a lot Gray.
But you had good intentions so I'll let you off easy tonight. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Please don't ;)

We were in Cornwall on holiday for some reason.. it was late and dark outside, mother and father bear went out for a quick slurp down the taps... My sister, my brother and I were trying to sleep in the small, dank room that was admitted for us by the creepy, lazy-eyed attendant in the main booking office. Breathing loudly, my brother inadvertantly showed us the clear-cut signs that he wasn't tired nor was he ready to lie there for a long time thinking about sleep and whatever was in the fridge. A few moments after his panting and puffing got to an all time annoying level, the television turned on, downstairs.
...Silence fell upon us other than the creepy, hollow sound of the television as it portrayed the tale of an evil Clown man demon shitter thing...
My brother, being the bored one, went down to turn off the television after a long time of "No YOU go!!" 's.
Suffice to say; my sister and I slept quite well that night only to be disturbed by my brother freaking out when parents came back slightly drunk and trying to come up the stairs as quiet as possible (but didn't Actually be quiet). Hence brother thinking the clown was after him :)
..Yup. Few years ago now.. |

I've only read "The Shining"... which I actually found rather boring. But that was a few years ago, so maybe I should read it again.
I've read the first few pages of "It" and thought it was really cool. As much as I hate clowns myself.... Methinks I should pick it up from the library... |

The Shining is good but not realy the best. Its one of those few cases where the movie (the one with Jack Nicklson) is actually better and more terrifying than the book.
You should really give IT a try. Its very good. A compelling storyline, memorable and likeable characters, excitement on everypage in other words. I think the only problem with it was that Mr. King takes the graphic sex and gore up a notch and it tends to go a little too far in some scenes. But if you're not offended by anything then you should really read IT. I totally recommend it. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I'm not a fan of the horror genre, so I haven't read any of the above books. I tried reading Bag of Bones at one point, simply because one of the characters in the book has the same name as me, but I didn't like the narration style, so I gave up.
The only Steven King book that I've read is The Stand, which I thought was fantastic, although it's made me forever wary of the flu. XD I've heard that the Dark Tower series is also good, although I have no idea what it's about. |

The Stand was the only Stephen King I really coudn't get into. :/ I read the first fifty pages and I still didn't find it that interesting. Maybe I was just being impatient and should've read further? The plot seemed to move too slow for my liking.
I have not had the pleasure of reading The Dark Tower series but I plan to this summer. Its supposed to be very good and I want to really get into a good book series durring the summer. Its got almost eight books in the series so it must have had some kind of success. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Hmm... I liked The Stand a lot, although I do remember that it took a long time for everyone to die and to have the story really take off. Once it does get going though... Well, I couldn't put it down. ^_^
I came really close to buying either the first book in the Dark Tower series, or The Green Mile today, but I couldn't decide. Would you recommend The Green Mile? |

Thats hard because I only saw bits and pieces of the movie. I do remember The Green Mile being more dramatic and emotional than what I imagine Dark Tower to be. So my guess is that if you want something emotional and a possible tear-jerker, then The Green Mile is your best bet. But if you're looking for something with more action and an epic quest, then Dark Tower is the way to go.

They did. A long time ago. Its really good I hear. Its almost got the same film sucess as The Shining (which I recommend so much. Its actually a lot better than the book in my opinion. Its just scarier and the storyline in the movie moves a lot faster for my taste.)

Finally. Someone agrees with me. What do you think made this book so disturbing? I could go on and on about why this book is so horrifying but I would love to hear your opinion first. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Didnt Steven King do Rose Red
well at any rate never read any of the books
Heres my list
Coolest- It pt. 1 and 2
Scariest- Between Rose Red and pet semetary
Rose probably didnt scare as mush as pet semetary
that was the only movie that I actually would keep switching stations in intense parts until finally one day I seen the entire movie
The pets didnt scare as much as the main characters son
"I'm done playing with mommy daddy now I wanna play with you" |

Stephen King wrote Rose Red. Then Sci-Fi put on a movie version of it like its done for a lot of his movies lately.
Gabe was one of the first reasons Pet Semetary scared me so much. When I read the part where he died I almost cried in the middle of my Spanish class. It was too much for me to read about something so tragic happening to someone so young and innocent.

You just really dont expect that to happen in a whole lot of movies/ books
what you usually expect is the dad gets the kid just in time but Steven King took advantage of that which of course makes him one of my favorite authors
So thats what his name was Gabe well anyway he was by far the scariest and the mothers sick sister uh yeah she definatly gave me the creeps.
But one really has to think WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MAN DREAM OF  |
