But the lungs and heart are connected in a pathway. Oxygen travels from the lungs through the bloodstream to the heart, and from there the heart pumps the blood so that other parts of the body may receive oxygen. Now replace the word "oxygen" with "tar".

Who knows? *shrug* Maybe the dude smoked 5 packs a day for 40 years. ...or maybe they painted the heart with black nailpolish to scare the s**t out of little kids to keep them from smoking.
