I used to break them up, but it caused some problems.

I wrote something to fix it but it never worked (hate regular expressions). Anyway, for now just delete them--thats what I do when I find them.

In the future I'll make it work.

You'd [i]think[/i] that a multi-char consolidating routine would be easy to code... but programming almost never works out that way, does it?

Alternative solution: Implement comments in an inline frame (set at about 600 pixels wide or so). Wide comments will still be wide, but then at least they won't cause the [i]entire page[/i] to bloat out to their width.

I personally don't find it THAT big of a problem anymore. It's just not something to stress over just yet. Deleting them works just fine.

Would left-aligning the images in the curent layout work? After all, if I'm viewing a 600px wide picture when the entire page is 3,000px wide (due to some SQUEEEE! type comment), I don't like having to scroll sideways just to view the picture.
