This is how I understand it....

The G8 summit is a meeting held by eight of the richest countries, discussing global matters. This year the meeting's being held in Perthshire in Scotland. Along with these meetings come the anarchists, the anti-capitalists, the protesters, etc. Previous G8 meetings in Seattle and Genoa were marred by violence, and people fear this one will be no different.
This year, there's been a huge call worldwide to eliminate poverty. People like Bob Geldof and Bono have been appealing to politicians etc to help deal with thrid world debt.
Live 8 is a fundraiser which will involve a number of concerts held in several cities around the world, the last concert will be in Edinburgh, and will be on the same day as the summit itself.

If I'm wrong, then please correct me.

Depends which show you see basically. Paul McCartney and Pink Floyd in London, Will Smith and Bon Jovi in Philadelphia. Take your pick. Here's the possible lineup:

I won't watch it, most likely. None of the artists appeal to me much.

Bono appeals everything, the pretentious twat.

Sounds right to me. I don't agree with some of the things their doing myself...like having those stupid commercials with celebrities in them to attract lazy ass Americans. <_< Sounds like their using us for SOMETHING.

I missed a lot of it................
Sad
Linkin Park was horrible. His voice was all nasily. He couldn't even sing the songs I like correctly. Asshole. Grr!

I flipped to it during commercials every now and then. Looked boring as hell. Nothing overly exciting.

I believe you can watch most, if not all, of the performances on AOL music.

Wasn't too bad, the big collaberation on "Hey Jude" was a good way to end it I reckon. But "The Quick and the Dead" was on channel 4 at the same time, so I ended up channel flicking as well.
Was gonna watch the highlights of the Philidelphia show, but when Graham Norton came on I just changed the channel. <_<

Well, I was busy all of the day so I didn't catch much of Live 8. The only ones worth mentioning were Pink Floyd (That "group hug" at the end was priceless, as was his remark about playing "with these three guys" statement before Wish You Were Here ... and Syd's picture during said song), and Paul McCartney's set with Get Back and Drive My Car. Someone told me that he played Helter Skelter and I was so mad that I missed that!! I'm always complaining because he keeps playing the same songs over again and why doesn't he do Helter Skelter. Then he finally does and I missed it!!! I hate Ben Mulroney. Terrible coverage. Anyways, I thought McCartney was great, but after the intensity of the Who and Floyd I thought he lacked a bit of passion.
I caught a bit of Brian Wilson, and it looked really sad I'm afraid. Sat behind keyboards he wasn't playing, it looked like the few times he tried to sing his mike was off.

Motley Crue play Helter Skelter every night. Razz

McCartney should get back on the ball, the Crue are taking more credit for his song than he is.

At the Superbowl he played Live and Let Die, and my friend said, "How DARE he cover Guns 'N Roses!!" and I was just like.. "Uh, it was his song to begin with, hon"
