This is pretty much about the recent events which took place on FAC. What do you think about children (15 and under) who go online and are free to roam around unprotected? I think there is a serious lack of parenting going on there. Parents let their children surf the net, expecting them to not be curious and stick their litle noses places where it shouldn't be. That isn't enough. Kids are curious, like anyone else they want to know what is out there and want to see as much as they can. Then one day when mommy walks in on little billy reading an adult topic in an online forum there is hell to pay. "OMG! Things like this should not be available to children! Let me pretend to be a good parent now and inform the authorites of this travesty". Hello? I can understand if there are no warnings about, and your child clicks on a thumbnail of big bird just to be directed to a porn site.. but when it's a forum with an nc17 warning? What is the big deal. If anything you punish the child, not the site. The warning was there, the kid just couldn't control themselves. And honestly if your child is too young for this kind of thing, then they should have supervised computer sessions.

Another thing though is kids posting pictures of their half nude self online. Where are the parents? Do they not realize that their daughter or son is whoring themselves out on the net? Where the hell is the supervision? They can't expect admins of sites to protect their kids from themsevles 24/7. If parents can't be there to supervise what their underage children are looking at or doing online, then the kids shouldn't be allowed online in the first place.

On a side note. Big shout out to the little brat who caused this forum to lose spam and unmoderated. Even better, a big shout out to their parents. Good job supervising your child! Because lil Timmy isn't allowed to look at certain things, now a whole community has lost 2 of it's major forum sections. Be proud of yourself! Now you can pretend you are a good parent! Now go to work or watch tv while ur kid gets back on the computer and comes across some more nc17 or R rated material that is clearly marked as such. When he opens it up and you find out sometime later... call the authorities and bitch again. Or... you could just be a parent and sit with your child while he or she is on the computer. What a concept.

carter...that is so true. I mean i agree with you. Ju because of what the child looks at with a warning doesnt mean the parents have to complain to authorities. They should punish the child. Not the site. Since this forum is for all ages.(i belive).

I could pretend to say something witty right now to add to your mocking of lowsy parenting and idiot children, but considering that I'm too tired to come up with any useful responce at the moment, here's a big fat "I agree."

those darn dookie heads Grr!

True.

Okay so maybe we made a mistake about the UnMod forum... surely we just erase mistakes and carry on with the knowledge of our wrong doings? I don't blame the people or the parents.. sometimes we can get carried away and sometimes we can give in to if people ask us to do things which is understandable in a feeling of community. But now we know better and now we know to not allow these things..

/me fully concurs with Layz.

Jumping on the bandwagon and agreeing with Carter here. Wink

God, if you're so concerned about your child going on sites they shouldn't then get the kid some damn parental blocks on the computer. I think AOL or Yahoo gives them out for free. Five minutes to download and you may be a decent parent. Rolling eyes

I'm not sure how those child blocks work, but even if it was something that wasn't blocked. Paernts need to work on their common sense. We all know that there is bad stuff out there that kids really should not be looking at. So what does this tell us? Don't let your kids on the computer without supervision. There really isn't much more that can be said.

P.S - This topic isnt intended to continue bitching about the decision made to kill spam and unmoderated. There is another topic already open where you can bitch about that Smile Just incase anyone started with that in here. This is a topic to bitch about the stupid parents that can't control and watch their children, so they blame others. yay!

Remember that one 12 year old girl (I forgot her name) who's dad ranted about how horrible people we were for talking about naughty subjects and whatnot around children? It was his little baby girl that was the one contributing in unmoderated, talking about sex and the like. At least he just left a post in retort and didn't have anything closed down.
