Why?

So I'm watching the end of Remaking Vince Neil and my mom comes in and durring the credits she first gives me another talk about how I'm to never bring home anyone like that (she says pointing to a bloated before pic of Vince) then she'll like never forgive me. I laughed because if I was going after fat, bloated men in their fourties then I'd be worried too.

But yeah, after that she like kept asking me why I like rock music so much. She said that it didn't glorify anything positive and that it wasn't even appealing to listen to. Well thats her opinion and I respect it but it did make me ask one thing. Why do I like rock music?

So why do you like the music that you like? It doesn't neccesarily have to be rock but whatever genre you prefer. Is it the lifestyle you love? Do you simply find some sounds in music more relaxing than others? There must be some reason out there other than "I just do." So what is it?

It took Black Sabbath's Iron Man to help me realize why I like rock.

1. 99% of pop music simply annoys me

2. I don't mind hip hop and rap but I can't enjoy it unless I'm going dancing

3. Country bores me

4. Rock is the only genre that I seem to enjoy whenever, wherever.

5. I love the sound of a guitar. Accoustic or electric. It doesn't matter. The sound just relaxes me in such a way that its almost intoxicating.

6. Nothing keeps me more aware of my surroundings than when bang my head and tap my feet to the beat of the drums and rythm of the bass.

7. I definetly don't like rock because everyone else likes it. I was worried about that for a second but I realized that if I wanted to be like everyone else then I'd be listening to McR and AFI. Instead I listen to Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, and Aerosmith. These are bands most trendy kids my age have never even heard of. I listen to it because I honest-to-God like the sound of classic rock bands. Not because I want to go along with the crowd.

Well, there are times when I ask myself why I like rock music. In the beginning I liked it for all the worng reasons. But Heavy Metal and Rock music of the 70's and 80's found me if you know what I'm saying.
I like rock and heavy metal music of those great times because:

1. The greatest sounds of rock you'll ever hear.
2. Pop music, rap music, RnB music, country music, it all sucks in my taste.
But I do addmit that when I was young and stupid I did like eminem, but I was a little kid I didn't undertsand, my parents did have me listen to their music like bon jovi or Metallica, the doors, or whatnot, I liked that music as well. I was in to all kinds music when I was a kid, well I still am a kid I'm just more mature and have more of a life then I once did. But I blew over eminem and all that s**t I used to listen too because Heavy Metal and rock music was the best.
3. It's apart of the greatest music history in the world.
4. I worship the sounds of a guitar

I love all the bands that kids at my school never even heard of, lik sixx. But Some kids have heard of them at my school, some like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, all that. But those kids are like either anti goth or whatnot, brats more or less. So I sorta stand out. Music is what got me more social, I can't live without my heavy metal and rock music. It's what keeps me going. :P

That's why I like my music. If my story made any sense.
