If there are any among you who are cinephiles and want to discuss further how much of American Director Stanley Kubrick is instilled into Game Designer Hideo Kojima, this is the place!

In his Game Franchise Metal Gear Solid, I noticed Kojima has made several references to 2001: A Space Odyessy.

In Metal Gear Solid (PSone). The name of the Submarine where Solid Snake does virtual reality training for the upcoming game is named "Discovery". Discovery is the same name of the spacecraft used to voyage to Jupiter in 2001.

In Metal Gear Solid 2: SOL (PS2) The tanker at the beginning of the game is also named Discovery.

In Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, (Does any one agree with me on this?) The sneaking suit that Snake obtains ( a easter egg) and the Sneaking suit worn by The Boss have striking similarities with the Space suits the astronauts wear in 2001.

Are there any other connections I missed?

In addition to those I would love to hear theories that correlate what Hideo Kojima would do with the future of Metal Gear Solid and the structure of 2001.

What about Otacon? His first name was "Hal". There's another tie-in for you.

But there's references to other films as well. Like Escape from New York, where the hero was called Snake Plisken. Snake's fake name in MGS2 was Plisken.

Practically half the dialogue in Snake Eater consisted of movie references.

Certainly almost everything Paramedic said.
