Its funny. How so much can change during a simple two month hiatus. But changed it has. And, sadly, not for the better. To be fair, it all really started months ago, with the rise and fall of OS, the turmoil and eventual split of the Dutch gang and the FACers. I disagreed with that round of bannings, and I still stand by my decision. We lost part of the soul of this forum when we lost Lexar, Grissey, and the rest. Sure Slet was still (technically) a member, but he, too, faded away with OS's passing. Hell, even Mandark made the forums interesting, even if he was like sandpaper across an exposed clitoris, and I was almost glad to see the emergence of Logan.

And now we come down to this "new forum". A forum cluttered by the creation of too many needless sections formed in an attempt at order and peacekeeping, simply because a few individuals didn't have the common decency to keep things within reason. A forum devoid of the interesting personalities it once had, populated instead by carbon-copy reproductions of the typical "I-love-anime-and am-going-to-be-a-manga-artist-because-I-draw-my-crappy-anime-drawings-exactly-the-same-as-every-other-delusional-14-year-old-and-have-no-original-thought-process-of-mine-own." People who define their lives by the chorus from the latest pretty boy "punk" band. (By the way, Green Day is no longer punk, and neither is Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Reliant K, Blink-182 or any of those other guys who where eye-liner in an attempt to [i]actually [/i]look attractive. Punk rock died with the birth of MTV) People who think they are fluent in Japanese simply because they have an all-too popular and probably over used phrase in their user name. People who have no idea what the first thing about art truly is and probably don't even know that "Manga" was inspired by the western cartoon style and its origins are not rooted in Japan at all.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think I am tired of wasting my time with pre-teen girls who's gaming knowledge doesn't escape the confines of the newest Japanese RPG and who's verbal skills profoundly mimic that of a simian pounding on the lacerated shell of a dung beetle. The select few who rose above the rest to be something of interest are slowly fading away, and I feel I am next in line.

I actually agree with you, these forums are invaded by 14-years old fangirls with brains size of a bread mould. I'm actually glad Mandark was banned, but I don't know other people you've mentioned.

Will. If you leave, then the forum really [i]will[/i] be devoid of interesting matter. Of course, it's hardly in my place to ask you to stay. I agree with all the points you've made (and the forums have really been taking it hard since the Unmodded and the Spam sections were closed), and although I really don't know much about OS, I did notice that they kept things relatively interesting, even if they were a pain in the ass to the mods (although I'll have to say their "rebellion" was pretty amusing, even though I hadn't taken an active part in it ).

I agree on the fangirl thing. I still wish that someone would actively moderate the anime/manga section like Lasher did before she left (y'know, to kill all the fangirly threads and eat small children) but I don't think any mod now would want to do that, much less even set foot in there. :/

I still remember your Zelda game. o_o; You still win for that one, you know. (In fact, that's what happens when I play word association: comics = Will = video games = Zelda = wins = chocolate = coffee beans...) You were one of the only other good RPers, too. :(

:( Well, good luck to yeh if you really decide to abandon our little community here.

(And Brian, if you decide to be the second Mandark, I sure hope you know what you're getting into. )

Oh yeah. I remember that. Hnh, your posts have been spotty, I guess you just kinda fade in and out? I seem to remember you now, and here I was thining you were a (relatively) new member. :wacko:

Hell, make me a mod, I'd whip the anime section back into shape double-time. Same with the videogames section. These people need to see that there is a veriable plethora of games outside of Golden Sun or Xenosaga.

I feel sorrow, All the good members are gone, Even the OS forums are really Dull. I FAC is still good tho. With new members comeing, and going. This is a golden forum. With a 'histoy' like no ohter.

i wasnt a major poster back then, i only read posts and forums, but i must agree it has lost its, livelyness, and i may be 14 but im not an over obsessing fangirl that wants to be a manga artist, i realise my art isnt that good, so plz dont juge me for that..^^ oh yeah and if my name was capable of being changed now i would change it, im not obsessed with Sesshoumaru anymore thankyou..lol ^_^

Im going to say what Ive said a hundred times before it seems. The forums would have changed regardless of some dutch kids trying to create some sort of disruption. The site is getting more popular, its growing. FAC gets on average 80 new members per day. Did you really expect it to stay the same, with the same dynamics etc? People really need to stop blaming any changes on that one situation.

Yes the forums have changed and they are going to continue to change. The main site is going to change.things change. The forum change had nothing to do with keeping people in line. It was time to mix things up and become more organized. I realize this takes a bit of getting used to. Lord knows its difficult to scroll further down the page. Spam and Unmoderated had nothing to do with the main forum change. Just so happened the incident occurred a few days after the change. Personally I could care less that unmoderated is gone. The section made me sick more than anything. Children posting half nude pictures and talking about touching themselves or having sex. Not right. Spam is gone for now, but it could return. I think we are getting along fine with the general section right now in a more relaxed state.

I have seen the forums change, and I have complained about it. But Im still here because I know that eventually it will change for the better. Basically those who care about the community stick it out and try their best to improve it. Those who dont, make topics about how horrible it has become and leave.

Yes, I'm in bitch mode right now, but I've noticed this change coming for a while. Perhaps I'm just pinning for the days of old. Maybe I just miss those guys like Lexar, Li, RoseDagger, Lasher, Raymei, Grissey, even (gasp) Mandark. Matt and Flea just up and dissapeared one day, Ambush is gone, gone, gone. We used to have better topics, events that were even planned out over the course of a few days. Perhaps you are right, perhaps it will get better. Time, as they say, will tell.
